I'm very interested to see how often you:
a) update/ refresh your website or b) feel you should update/ refresh your website?
Personally, I see the answer as twofold: updating for SEO purposes (which would include updating content and images) and two, updating from a visual perspective (full website overhaul or branding change).
Typically, from an industry perspective, it is advisable to update your site firstly whenever you feel it needs to be changed (this may include changes to images and content, keywords for SEO etc.), and secondly around every 3-5 years it is worth considering a refresh, which would include larger changes to your website and possibly your brand image.
