Again, as for the site. By most peoples standards it is finished, just not mine. I want to make sure that it is not lacking in any way before it goes online and that I've taken the time to add anything else I can to it to "raise the bar" so to speak.
How do know it's going meet people's expectations, that they understand how it works, that they trust the site and are willing to put up the cash?

At some point you are going to have to do some testing. You know every nuance of the site but it may be that the shade of blue you have used for some feature or the prose is awkward or the call to action slightly in the wrong place. No site ever survives first contact with the eneemy so be prepared to lose your teddy and create a site that you may hate but your visitors love.

Once you can demonstrate that it attracts interest and converts well then you can start making overtures to camelot or any of the other worldwide lotteries.

You haven't given anyone much more than the ammo to flame you with...

No link - so they can't comment on the functions, features, aesthetics, SEO or technical flaws with your site.

No notion of what your site does or will do, what the concept is etc - so can't help you improve it on that front or suggest ways to raise the bar.

Unless I am mistaken you asked how much Camelot would pay for it - again - we don't know what it is. So I expect you won't get much help! A little trust could help you go a long way..

Indeed - people will be brutally honest, so if your magic, multi million pound idea is dead in the water - no better place to ask then on here - then you can move on to the next big thing. Or if it could fly, you will find people wanting to team up with you and bring their specialist skills to the table, worst case you get some constructive criticism and you can refine, tweak and improve.

Good luck with whatever your site is - when you are ready to let people know what it does and get some proper feedback perhaps you should consider posting a little more detail!

The OP is I believe from an earlier post a a programmer. A pragmatic professional by any standards and yet this 'celebrity' culture where so many young people either want fame of fortune seems to have got him too.

Sad - so very very sad.

Whats sad is how wrong your conclusion is, I have absolutely no desire to be famous and concider it to be one of the worst things that could ever happen to me. The only thing that has gotten to me is how neck and neck my oligations and resources are only for nothing to come of it in the long run. There is nothing fast food about trying to make a good idea the not only the best it can be but putting so much work into it that its actually worth real money. I merely, desire not to be screwed.

Fisicx, TaliorMade, I can see where you guys are comming from. Perhaps I was in error by not stating that its not the site I need help with only the best way to approach/present a website to the Camelot group that was a very good concept that would make people play more.

I wanted to know what you would all do in that position, regardless of what the site does. Obviously, with that little info there is only so much you can say. However, I was merely looking for a general rule of thumb which I would then amend based on the site if I had to. A few of you have really lived up to doing exactly that and were thanked. Some of you didn't. Like the thread or not, thats all there is to it.

The general rule is that make it work for yourself first, befored you go out selling your business. That way you will maximise the value.

We do a have a good bunch here. And you should find a very good impartial advice. But any advice that is offered is based on what the questionnaire is providing in terms of information. lack of this info results in this long thread which seems that we are dishing your idea. When in reality we are trying to actually help you. Dont be defensive, we are here to help and assist. If you cant stand our words, than how are you going to negotiate with big boys?????

Well, IF Camelot is your target market then you would need to get an 'in' there - I would suggest starting at the top - you will either be ignored - or more likely bumped down the chain of command - unless its a real winner - in which case - you will probably be on the road to a meeting PDQ.

Start with a phone call - don't get fobbed off with some low level lacky marketing person - or you won't get anywhere.

Do some research - check people out on Linked in - try and find a phone number - CEO is Dianne Thompson - if you can find out the name of her PA - then phone and ask to be put through to the PA - be brief, to the point, and explain you would like to present a concept/idea/x to Dianne, could you please have her (the PAs) email address to send some initial information for her to pass on to Dianne at a convenient time.

Don't give the whole thing away straight away (not that you would!) but dangle enough of a carrot to get a bite by way of a return email. Then try to get a meeting - decision makers are key - Marketing Director or above. Once you have your site fully ready and you are ready go for a meeting and try and close the deal..

Other tips - get some backup buyers inline. For Camelot my gut feeling is they have their core site and won't want to dilute it with other stuff.. perhaps you can sell them the technology for integration with their own site?

Anyway still can't be more helpful than that without knowing more- and have work to do - this website is too addictive!

There is always a chance but it just seems so unlikely, you will probably be better off focusing on something else.

Personal vanity perhaps. Quantum mechanics my arssse. I think that the OP nk elephants. A web site is a web site and if the general public can't see what it is all about he might as well get our many Chinese friends to write the content.

I gave this wannabe the benefit of the doubt. Now IMO anyway I think that he has completely dilluded himself.

I blame the BBC myself. All them Dr Who repeats:D

Tell you what OP. You come back in 6 months time showing that this oh so great web site of yours in getting visitors in significant volume and earning money and I'll eat a whole totum pole.

So it counts if I come back way before that, right? I have to clarify this because I really wouldn't be surprised if you started going on about how I broke the agreement by returning at a different time. Also you really don't have to call me 'Omnipotent Person' all the time, its a little weird.

Yeah, I'm hilarious, however, I apologise for misreading you. Thanks for the suggestion.
