How much for a website

Hello i am looking into starting my own real estate business. I am looking into how much money would it cost for a very good professional website.
 
I'll give the same answer I give whenever I'm asked this question. A website costs as much as a car. No more, and no less.

Thats all a bit ridiculous, nobody knows the spec of what they are after yet, so the £3k plus is very much pie in the sky. It could be just a flippin brochure site, way less thank £3k.

As with all these requests - something more of spec would help greatly. A full brief not needed at this point but a little more than just "real estate" site. Do you want a full blown site like Haarts or Findaproperty.com? Just a brochure site i.e. basic info and contact page?

As said let people know exactly what you want/need and you will get a fair few quotes. Remember though, cheapest is not always best.

Make sure you check the companies portfolio too :)

somewhere between £10 and £100000

...to get accurate estimates you need to give an accurate spec. the more info you give designers to begin with the easier your relationship will be with them and the fairer the price will be. hope that helps.

Hi mate,
I have just started my own training provider in Liverpool. I am working from a budget so wanted a basic site to that I could add to. I used tdl web developments and got a 5 page website that can be added to with domain names etc for £230.00p. Have a look at absolute training solutions if you like. TDL offer a range of services and was more than helpful.

Look at our website - if you like it I can pass you the details of the guy who did it. We spent less than £1K and he has a portfolio of work all of similar quality.

what do you want the website to do?

Just talk about your company? Show land or properties??

As everyone else has stated, it's almost impossible to give an accurate quote on a website without knowing more info.

It could be as little as £500 or as much as £10,000 + if you wanted PR, SEO and advertisement with the website.

For a good quality basic brochure or content site I would budget to spend at least £300-£1000 which could get you

- good clean and unique design
- professional logo
- 1-5 pages of content

But like everyone is saying without knowing your requirements it would be a little difficult to give a quote.

It really depends on whether you want a static or dyanmic site.

If you want a dynamic site, the complexity of what you want really determines the price. Paying coders is expensive.

You might want to consider outsourcing the various elements of the site creation if you dont mind the extra hassal. Its cheaper but a lot more work and less accountability. Up to you.

Hi

I think you really are best comparing 2 or three web designers and get recommendations if you can, though remembering that your new site may need to be more basic or hugely more advanced than those sites you are getting recommendations from. You can get a good idea about a designer through asking questions etc and you can make the decision much more easily.

Hello Lee,

I think you would need a:

home page
about us page
our properties page
contact us page
terms and conditions
partners page (as they may want to link to mortgage advisers)

Out of all these, it would be the properties section that it content managed so they can upload descriptions, photos, property details and downloadable floor plan. We would then put a little bit of code on the home page that would automatically pull through the latest 'say' 3 properties.
There would be search functions so the users can quickly find the property they are looking for also.

This is only a rough list, but I would say that the above would start from about £1,495.00 plus VAT.

Please note, we would provide a full quotation proposal that lists each stage and timeframe of the site.

you could have the 'framework' developed by a professional which is SEO compliant etc for much less, and you will in the content yourself if you are able to?

Also, make sure you balance cost against benefits.

Work out exactly what you need and make a tender document including EVERYTHING that you feel is essential, along with items that you would like to have and ask them to price for each separately. Agree timescales, payment points and every single variable that might cause problems later if not adhered to.

Send it to all the people who have expressed an interest and get references for all the replying parties. Speak to those referees and determine what kind of an outfit the companies are (this bit's really important.)

If anyone is way more expensive than the average OR way cheaper than the average then I'd look at those long and hard before taking them on. People who are prepared to work for b*gger all are often either desperate or rubbish. You tend to get what you pay for.

Narrow it down to two or three and then revisit the whole thing again to make sure you pick the right one.

Then get a heads of agreement signed between you that clarifies all the terms of the business transaction BEFORE proceeding.

Oh, and if anyone wants 100% of the money up front, screw up the tender document and don't bother with them.
