Just to throw my hat in to this hilarious thread.
The oldies here will remember me as a maiden name, after 15 years we got married in 2017 and we enjoyed a fabulous Airbnb rooftop apartment in Rome for a few days on honeymoon.
New husband said to me "Rome is beautiful, we could sell the house and move here. You can work anywhere in the world"
I looked at him, sipped more wine and said "Mmm-mm sure"
He wouldn't let it lie, he said "Well, you'd have to re-SEO your website from UK keywords to SEO Rome wouldn't you?" well, after 15 years of him not being able to spell Google right up to finally getting a grasp on SEO there was little more than I could do to agree (in principle).
He said it was a test.
We had spend 4 long hours on a walking tour around Rome the previous day, and I was that annoying tourist on her iphone making notes. Lots of notes. There's no way I'd remember a fifth of the information that was imparted that day, to be honest I planned on publishing it on my blog anyway as a distraction to the usual "Google new update blah blah blah PBN bad, skyscraper content good" etc
After we had been back home for a couple of weeks I spent 1.5 hours turning all my notes into a blog post. I cross referenced stuff that was sketchy on the internet to get my facts straight in case anyone y'know
bothered to read it .. got all my SEO ROME blah blah at the top of the article and did the usual:
- URL beginning with SEO ROME
- Title tag starting with SEO ROME
- H1 header beginning with (you guess it) SEO ROME
- Threw in "Search Engine Optmisation" for semantic search
- Introductory paragraph about 150 words ROME blah ITALY blah rah
- Alt tag on image .. WHITE WEDDING DRESS just kidding SEO 'ROME'
- Submitted the URL for inspection
- Google page 1, position 1 in google.co.uk and google.co.it in 5 minutes
- From 2017 to 2020, no further work done, still at the top of Google in 2 countries today
What was the question about ranking again? How long?
The average time for websites to rank on Google through optimization (SEO) techniques is about forever. That's right – jumping to the front of Google's results never happens for most websites, depending on the competitiveness of your industry and the popularity of your keywords
Well, 5 minutes to never is my definitive answer
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk
P.S. I've never had an enquiry for SEO ROME lol
