I have a fairly new one page website that directs traffic to my main site. It has little content I've only built links to it from my other sites. I has the keyword as first word in url and it is about 5 on Page One Google UK out About 99,900,000 results (0.38 seconds)
The exact keyword get about 50,000 searches per month.
Can anyone explain why it should rank so high?

If you let us all know the URL we can take a look and help shed some light.

If it has little content, and few backlinks albeit they might be strong, I'd expect this to fall away in a competitive market.

Might be an honeymoon period where your site is given a boost in the rankings by Google.

As Codefixer suggested, when you build a new site and it gets indexed by Google because you have 1 or more links pointing to it, you often get good rankings for a few weeks.

Sites then often seem to go into a probation period that some call an 'ageing delay' that can last 6 months or more. It seems that you need to build up some 'trust' before you can then compete again for tough phrases.

Rather that falling away the site has now gone to Position 1 Page 1 Google UK and is ranking very very well for many other highly competitive keywords. I'm not complaining but I do find it weird that some of our sites have loads of pages, content etc but are way behind this site in serps.
When my partner said it was fairly new he meant 6 months not weeks if this helps.
