How do I track/control a user through the funnel? (Retargeting etc)

Hi all

I am not quite sure how I can monitor and guide a user in terms of software and systems.

When a user lands on my site its easy to track bounce, conversion and all the usual metrics. When a user does not buy on their first visit I can potentially retarget them using ads and with Facebook retargeting using Facebooks pixel code. That's pretty basic stuff but the problem lies with once a user purchases how to stop them receiving selling ads and move them more onto content ads to keep them involved in the community of the brand.
Or if a consumer lands on my blog and i capture their email address with a lead magnet and send them through start of my funnel and they make a purchase how can i move them over to content.
Also i need to make sure that all users never receive the same content over and over on 2 different sources.
Each other should probably only belong to one marketing campaign at a time. If they are receiving multiple emails then it may damage the brand.

I really dont know a great deal about all of this so not quite sure what systems are out there to help me. I am signed up to mailchimp but that only covers the email aspect. I am willing to spend time and money on setting up an advanced funnel so i can let it run itself with the occasional tweak.

Mailchimp can do what you need. You need to use the eCommerce 360 link tracking. You can view purchase details, conversions, and total sales on the reports page. You can also set up segments based on your subscribers' purchase activity.

If you are using Google Adwords, then link your Analytics to your Adwords account. This gives great insight for ecommerce websites.

Happy to have a chat if you need further info. My contact details are as below.

Hi Oz

Yeah i get that Mailchimp can do a lot more but it will only make sure the user wont receive more sales emails.
That would still leave adroll retargeting and Facebook retargeting still showing sales ads. Once the consumer has purchased I will have their email address and this will become the main marketing source.
Adroll and Facebook would therefore become wasted money.

I was facing something similar about a year ago. I think this is what you are talking about.

"How can I prevent my ads from showing to customers that have already converted?

First, make sure that our SmartPixel is placed on your thank you/confirmation page (right before the </body> in your HMTL code). Then, set up a conversion segment to track your converted visitors. This way, anyone who converts and makes it to your thank you/confirmation page will be placed on your converted user list. You can then exclude this user list from seeing your display ads by navigating to “Manage> Segments & Conversion” in your dashboard and click “Add New Segment.”
