There seems to be quite wide range of companies on here an we would like to know how big or small these are. :?:

LOL. We're aren't really small. Though we don't have many employees we actually have a high turnover.

Forget the marketing campaign I think they could do with a high quality slate bedded pool table for their staff!!!

Is this pole to find out who to charge more for your services? :lol:

I have an electrician friend who does that, a new plug socket trebels if you have a flash car outside. Wrong but true.

I just want to know who the millionaires are? And do you want a new best friend :lol: (only kidding).

Money is the route of all evil! Who ever said that, didn't have any! :D

Its is not us, we have sold off 2 companies in the group

We have NDS8 and Contact Foundry left along with BIZAL and fall into the 1-3 bracket.

Last but not least every penny from every sale we have left over from bills goes on promotion which is what has helped with such fast growth, which means I am always skint but I do have thriving businesses.

No I think its Jayne , look at her posting rate. She has more posts than me in less than a month so she must have lots of free time.

As for Andy you still need to get rid of putting your mobile all over the place becuase it makes you look like a one man band.

Although it's one of the usual ways, I think turnover is such a strange way of gauging the size of a company. When I had my design company my turnover was very high because we bought print on behalf of our clients... one print job could add £40k to our turnover -- and there may be two or three of those size print runs going through the books every month, sometimes more.

Our profit on the other hand was a much more modest figure :?

I was taught..

Turnover is a 'Glamour Figure' and I have never ever paid attention to it and (in the nicest possible way) I have never been impressed by someones turnover.

I know roughly that we would be in the lower option i.e. under 100k a year if it means anything.

Now profit is another thing :)

Quite - it's amazing how many businesses focus on turnover. The profit you make from that turnover is the figure you really want to be concerned with, as that's what's going to determine whether you stay in business or not!

Its also very difficult to get an idea of the size of the business, i'm a perfect example, my have quite a few large clients, and more on the way yet we are not big at all, very much hand to mouth, now if you will excuse me im off to the local bins....its lunchtime!!

Wish it was love :D I've done my shift before any of you lot even get out of bed and I work at home with office stuff. If I had a million pounds I wouldn't be on the forum! I'd come and see you all, in my new campervan (I'd be able to aford one then) :lol:

I love the comments about profit and cash flow. Would anyone answer that as question? and it still does not reflect how well a company is doing because we reinvest every penny to fund further growth i.e. our profits next to zero.

Matrix you shock me I thought you turned over squillions ( my daughters speak for more than she can imagine) so if you need some help I could recommend a good sales development company :D

They also say in theory, Practice and theory are the same but in practice, theory and practice are rarely the same.

So yes I a agree with you theory but how many people would give thier profit figure? Exactly. That’s why I chose a question that would actually get an answer!

The most important thing for me is that my company provides me with a decent salary, so I can live well (no mortgage or car loans) and have a bit left over every month. That combined with a good growth rate makes me happy :D

The nice thing about turnover is that its easy to measure, couple of clicks and I can see what we turned over today, this week, this month.

If I look at the profit figure for any small period, it can include large bills, occasional or seasonal expenditure

So I tend to look at my turnover, knowing that averaged out over the year my profit will be X%

People should be encouraged to take part in the poll so that Ozzy has a better idea of who his members are and hence can charge more for advertising and then give some to us for free for being so helpful!
