Holiday Entitlement Query

Hi there,

Sorry if this has been posted already but I tried the search and could find nothing that covers the problem I have.

Basically, I am in full-time employment at the moment but am hoping to complete a teacher training course next year. I have a placement at a primary school and I am just trying to organise a convenient day to do this. I have told my boss the situation (which I feel I didn't have to do) and asked if I could book every Wednesday off up until Christmas. I will then resume my normal working week.
My boss says this is inconvenient and would prefer to split a whole day across two half days.

Can my boss do this? I feel that I am being punished for my honesty. I'm giving her enough notice, can she refuse my request?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Yes the boss can do this. Its all down to negotiation. You requested holidays, the boss made a counter offer, see if you can talk your way into a compromise.

Thanks for the response - I kinda already knew what the answer would be! I just wanted a bit of a moan - it's a small business where there is definitely a sense of one rule for some and another rule for others.

I don't think I'm going to back down here, I'll see what she has to say.
