Hello All

I am starting up a company but need to register it through company house, I tried to go through it and some parts were confusing me.

1. Director Section - I can only put one director's details, the company has two directors and I cant seem to add another on that online application. I can add my details but not my partner's.

2. Registered Office - I dont have an office as its a very small company and at the moment it will not be affordable for the company to rent an office. But I read on the previous pages that you cant put your residential address as a registered office. Is this true??

3. Share Capital - I haven't got a clue what to do on this page. All I have is 50% stake in the company and my partner has 50% stake also. What do I need to put on this section.

This registeration is stressing me out and just need some help and advice as I am lost and confused.

Thank you.

It would probably be simpler to use a formation agent than to go direct to Companies House. It cost me less than £20 including Companies House fees last time I did it.

1) I've never formed a company directly with CH so don't know how this section works.

2) You can use your home address but be aware that this is then shown on public record for everyone to see. If your home is rented you may find that your landlord will not allow you to use the address for this purpose.

3) The simplest way to do it is to have 1 share for each of you at £1 giving you £2 total share capital, or you could have 50 shares each with £100 total capital. It doesn't really matter for most small companies.

Hi,

If you would like help incorporating a UK Limited Company, take a look at our website:
http://www.wisteriaformations.co.uk/

We can incorporate a UK Limited Company for you in just 10 simple steps!

On our website you can add details of multiple directors.

You can use your residential address as your Registered Office but this address will be published on the Companies House website. For more information on using a Registered Office take a look at this page: http://www.wisteriaformations.co.uk...-a-registered-office-and-why-is-it-important/

Our standard share capital is 100 shares worth £1 each. You and your partner can have 50% of these shares each. However, you can chose to have as many shares as you would like.

Completing the process through a formation agent is far simpler than doing it with Companies House, where a lot of these things aren't explained at all.

We can register your company in 5 easy steps and have it approved within 3 hours.

You can use your home address as a registered office but this will mean it will be available on the public record. Some people don't mind this, but if you would rather protect the privacy of your address you can make an annual payment to use another address like ours in Covent Garden or Glasgow.

Issuing 100 shares is the simplest way to do this, that way each one represents 1% share of the company and there is no confusion.

Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions. There is also lots of information for those new to company formation on our blog, which you may find helpful: https://www.rapidformations.co.uk/blog/

1. Give the beast what it wants. If it ain't on there then you can't enter it, I'd say, though it sounds odd.

2. Virtual office providers, like us, offer a Directors Service Address, also. People are now wising up to the fact that their home address can end up on lots of websites that buy Companies House data

3. People usually go for 100 shares @ £1 ea., split between the directors. If 2 director's are to have equal ownership of the company, then its 50 shares each, in this example.

If it's too stressful, get someone like us to do it. Or an accountant. You want to get it done right as correcting errors later can be a pain BUT, not impossible, so don't freak out. Mistakes happen all the time and there are mechanisms to deal with them.

1. Director Section - I can only put one director's details, the company has two directors and I cant seem to add another on that online application. I can add my details but not my partner's.

You form the company with one director, when it's formed you can go back in and add more directors.

2. Registered Office - I don't have an office as its a very small company and at the moment it will not be affordable for the company to rent an office. But I read on the previous pages that you cant put your residential address as a registered office. Is this true??

You can use your home address. I agree with above posts about keeping home address private, in that you may wish to consider using a virtual office service.

We provide this service as do many others. Our service lets you use the address as a business trading address as well as a registered office address and we charge £100 a year for this, plus postage at cost. However, if you only need a registered office address service, then it's cheaper to get that through the company formation provider, typically at around £35 a year. Depends if you will be a trading business and if you are, then you need a virtual office solution so you can receive standard business mail and a mail forwarding service.

3. Share Capital - I haven't got a clue what to do on this page. All I have is 50% stake in the company and my partner has 50% stake also. What do I need to put on this section

Create 1 x £1 share for each director.
