Yiuwin Tsang

Hi everyone,

My name is Yiuwin and work for Sift Media. Whilst being a member on a local (Bristol) music/DJing forum, this is my first foray into the business online forum space. :)

Part of my job is to look after our clients who advertise on this site and BusinessZone and work out ways in which they can communicate their messages to you guys in a manner that a) doesn't annoy the community and b) works!

It's an interesting balance as my experience on the music forum, we forum members hate intrusive ads or blatant sales pitching in the discussions (and quite mercilessly let the perpetrators know..) - that said we all want to know about new technology, production programs and techniques - essentially anything that will make us better DJs or more knowledgeable in the practice. I don't imagine it'll be a million miles away from what goes on here...

I know that there's been stuff tried in the past (voda ad mid page) that went down like a lead balloon... I hope that if we can kick some ideas around here, we can come up with some good stuff.

Look forward to chatting with everyone.

Welcome Yuiwin

So we have a DJ in our midst. Many moons ago, before my vending adventure started, I used to be a cool chick around Bristol, had a small music promotions company and we used to hire out venues, get on board top DJs and sell tickets to our events. We used to promote jazz, soul and funk. Had some great write ups in the then Blues and Soul magazine. We used to do events such as all dayers (non stop jazz and funk all day and night), venues such as a pier and hotels. Used to really enjoy our events.

What kind of music do you play?

perhaps quicker removal of spam before worrying about advertising - after all they are taking free advertising ;)

then the difficult is that this is a business forum, not a tech. forum.

key things people want on here:
- legal advice on why their business has gone wrong
-- financial issues
-- shareholder issues
-- director issues
- need an accountant
- want a website which is a mix of ebay and amazon and pay no more than £100
- etc.

gear the advertising at that - show it only to those with sub 20 posts and you will clean up :D

welcome - look forward to discussions into the future!

@VendingRevolution - Thanks Barbara, your pre vending adventure adventures sounded like very good times!! I'm playing the new fangled electronic type of stuff at home - got into DJing as a lot of my friends do it, although to be fair, if you threw a rock in Bristol - you'd probably hit a DJ....

@akirk - Alastair - spammers aren't great really are they?! Thankfully I'd imagine everybody here recognises one from a mile off and are probably turned off it opposed to positively influenced!

Legal advice is always hot - I used to work on our HR title, and law was always a key driver! - how does the legal forum fit to meeting needs here? Would a more interactive platform like a live Q&A session work with any of the advice needs?

There's plenty of companies out there who can offer it - some who will do it for 'free' so to speak, but need some sort of return - be it traffic to their site or data capture.

Are you suggesting that over 20 post members need to pay in another way for use of the site?! :) (I am joking!)

It's going to be interesting - I'm really looking forward to working with you, as tricky as it could turn out to be. If we get it right, you guys will be happy, advertisers will be happy and UKBF will get better and better.

Keep using the red triangle report button for reporting spam please Alasdair (and anyone else reading this). Without the members alerting us to the many spam posts we get each day then we may overlook stuff. We can't clean up without your help.

Cheers
