Success depends on what you define as success, the prestige of the publication and how targeted the publication is. I had a few articles published in high profile industry magazines - in terms of how this has benefited me, it's not getting enquiries from the magazine readership that it has been influential, but from people I mention the articles to; i.e. they are good to get people to take you seriously. On the other hand, if it's a low profile magazine or website, it wouldn't work this way.

Depends where you get published. Some guest articles will definitely bring in direct leads, other times you just get the benefit of a link and some awareness.

Brand Yorkshire won't get much traffic though so won't be seen or read by many people.

Monitor how many visits it brings back to your site you via Goole analytics.

But it has other benefits e.g.

If you were to put together an "About Adrian" page on your website, you can reference all these articles and publications which is good social proof.

We had a mention in a small column of a Scottish paper a couple of years ago, where someone asked for a particular item, where could they get it from etc etc... we were contacted by the paper who put a photo of the product with our contact details and the price of the product.

All the product was, was a little bell that you could put onto your purse... we sold them for 99p each or £4.99 with a purse... including postage.

We sold 100's of them all over the UK! it was quite an interesting month :D
