Google updates its results 200-400 times a year. Some a minor fixes and some are major ones (i.e. the Mayday algorithm update)

Also with the advent of google caffeine and real time search some sites are crawled and indexed almost instantly.

What is the search term you used?

There's only so much info you want potential competitors knowing about.;)

Let's just say I'm seeing a whole bunch of sites in various searches that are anti SEO sites, i.e. have little or no of the on page aspects within the pages, virtually no links...they are as far from being SEO’d as they could be.

The plus side is we have found lots of new potential competitors.

Side stepping your irritating reply..

In those cases they may be employing cloaking or other black-hat SEO naughtiness.

Actually, what you just said made very little sense.

WTF! I'll try to use monosyllabic words when replying to your posts.

Nah the only type of cloaking these mum and pop sites would know would be when daddy gets a bit too pissed and dresses up as Batman at the weekend.

i noticed this too on our key phrase on usa google last two days

big influx of junk sites

some of which have no relevance to the term and/or are obvious crap sites designed only to support adwords stuff

maybe some anti spam stuff at google has broken?

Google changes its serps all the time. I wouldn't waste time worrying about them and trying to analyse, just focus on building USEFUL content.

Please tell me that you just read that load of ******** and decided to cut and paste!? Content stopped being king quite some time ago. And yes I'm well aware that the ALGO changes (fluctuates is a better term) virtually on a daily basis.

Nope you are wrong, the SERPs in my remit have been very stable for 24 months and in the main good, this batch are piss poor and I suspect inline with PPC i.e. ad revenue goes up when the results are poor. Be interested to know from our PPC bods if revenue spend is on the up…?
