Shelley

Hi all,
Have been running my own business for 7 years, but finally took plunge 2 years ago and bought premises and all other agro that goes with it. hehe...

welcome to the forum Shelly.

I can honestly say I prefer going to the dentist rather that the hairdresser.

No disrespect to hairdressers but I think its because my hair is poker straight and (according to my latest hairdresser) like Chinese hair. Must be all that type of food I eat.

Hi Shelley, welcome to the forum. My wife is also a qualified hairdresser, but never took it up full time.

There are far too many around in this area to make a decent living unless you have a huge whack to invest in a big high street salon. Still she keeps mine clipped and her friends coloured quite nicely.

My experience of hair dressers is that some are really nice and some are horrible. One of them was really nasty with me and was swearing about my hair, I never went back there again, 6 months later it was under new management.

So I what I would say to all hair dressers is make sure you have customer service skills :D

hey there
Presently i work in a hairdressers part time and it's a lovely place to work as my boss and fellow workers are all really kind and helpful, which is one of the best reasons to work!
Bit of advice though: always play good music 2 dance around to!

Hi and welcome!
I love my trip to the hairdressers. Its so lovely to have people asking me "can I get you a coffee, magazine, glass of wine?" its the most pampered I feel for a long time so I don't mind paying through the nose for it!
Best of luck

A glass of wine at the hairdresser is a must! My old hairdresser used to always have wine on the go for his clients! Now he's too rich and successful to cut my hair anymore (sob!). Apart from the fact his salon is in Salisbury and I'm in Essex!

Been trying to find a decent hairdresser ever since and still can't find one I like. Maybe I'm just fussy?

Oh yes, the glass of wine is a must. My hairdressers has a little card like a menu that lists all the drinks available. They have a little bowl with mints & sweets on the table and they also have sunbeds available. They give "loyalty points" and a little card so when you have enough things done you can get a free treatment. All these little things make a visit to the hairdressers a little nicer.

The drop in idea is great, sometimes you have to make appointments up to two weeks in advance, I never know what i'm doing in two weeks and usually end up missing appointments.

Sometimes when I do manage to get to the hairdressers, i'm in a rush too, so less talking somethimes is good...fast hair service for when you have a busy day :D

some interestings points there.

Cant think the smoking thing goes down to well. i think that be awful esp if you have just had your hair washed.

The main thing in our hair treatment is cutting of hairs. whenever u or ur hair cutter cut the hairs it will effect the growth of ur hair, so i would prefer u to always use good hairdressing scissors. i have purchased some of them and they helped me allot. i purchased them from BEAUTY IMPEX online beauty store. This link will help u allot:

Hi all. I will keep this short!!! I have just hijacked your forum just on a quest to see if anyone has any training heads that i could use for part of my play therapy work. I know this is a strange request (I think I am getting a bit known for being a bit cheeky:D:D) but I have a few children who find doing hair very therapeutic and I am after any second hand heads with clamp or something to put it on. Pref as near to real hair as possible as its important to make most of the things i use as near to real experiences as possible. Sorry if you find my post a bit cheeky but thats how i get to help them so much. (the children are only aged 5-7) I am in a infant school in Hemel Hempstead area. If anyone has any for sale or just have some they dont need i would be happy to take them.

Thanks again for reading. For more information please message me.:D:D
