I am a designer/maker and have recently launched a Summer collection on my online DG Divine Boutique. I am now looking to approach editorials/magazines and publishers to feature my products in their pages.

My products include seasonal accessories and customised footwear and are all on trend.

I would like to get it right, what is the best way to get their attention and a positive response? :|

Agreed with BusyVids. There are many trading sits who allow free products review to their free members. I advice you that visit those sites and fill membership form and get free products review access. dailytrader.com
Contact the editor and ask them if they want some free content for their publication, and ask whether you can send them a sample of your writing.

Hola, i would dodge the editors... especially if you are going to large glossy mags. You will get mullered if you go down that route...

My suggestion:
1. Identify what mags you want to be in and buy a copy of each one or look through their website to identify a reporter responsible for product features.
2. Email them to introduce yourself and a very short few lines about your product(you can work out email addy's by googling to find that mags email format, i.e. [email protected]). They get hundreds of these emails each day so don't expect a reply unless you have an amazing usp.
3. Call them to intoduce yourself, never ask if they got your email, they hate that. Talk through what you are offering. Also use it as a way to make sure they are the right person that you need to speak to. If not, ask who you should contact.
4. Once you have the right details, send them the odd sample, ideally with a cover note or press release

Hope this helps.

Andy
