Getting a local area code number for my Mobile?

Hello,

I have a small business and I am currently using my mobile as my main number. I now want to make my company look a bit slicker and more professional so would like to get a landline number with the same area code of where my business is located. (Don’t have access to a physical landline at my business location so need a virtual one).

I see that some mobile operators offer this service for an extra £10 per month with no extra fees but understand that you cannot choose the number that they issue to you just the area code.

Sounds great but my only concerns are ….

1. What happens if they discontinue this service in the future? (Do you lose access to the mobile landline?)

2. Would there be any way to retain the number and move it to another company? Similar to a PAC Code to transfer it?

Last thing anyone would want is to get a number for your company and then loose access to it, that would be a nightmare.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated?

Many thanks

Thanks for the input so far everyone.

I just simply want a local area code landline number which when called diverts straight to my mobile. I suppose basically a "mask" for my mobile number if you like so customers think that they are calling a landline number.

I am tempted by EE's pocket landline at £10 per month but they only give you a number with the requested area code, the rest of number you can't customise so that's a bit pants.

Does anyone know if EE is a member of ITSPA? because my main concern is if they drop their pocket landline service you could lose the number and that would cause a hell of alot of grief.

I use something called Tamar - if you use my code MortgageSuccess you get some sort of discount.

I think we have been with them for about 18 months now and literally cant fault them, you get a decent control panel so you change where your phone diverts to at any time and it also keeps a log of calls. £5-10 a month depending on the plan.
