Where can I find someone to check a factory in China out for me?
 
But I want to make a profit, surely there are plenty of others doing this without getting ripped off.

1. ask a friend to check the factory; 2. pay for third party to check; 3. payment terms: some in advance and rest against B/L

Where about is the factory your talking off. I have agents in China, I could ask one to make a visit for you however there will be a fee from them ofcourse.

There are many consultants in Hong Kong who will do this for you. Of course you will have to pay them but it will save you money in the long run.

Use someone experienced who will do qc and negotiation for you. Otherwise you will get burned!

I supposed that you thought the products you buy from China costs much high than others and you did not get any profits from the trading?
Did you make a market survey before you purchased products?
I am exporter from China, I did not think that Chinese company will have the ability to rip you off.
So far as I am concerned, the market and the prices are very public in China market for these export products, the profits for China manufactures is less and less.Because Costumers know the market condition,and one provide lower price get the order.

It is hard for Chinese export now.

Just have to caution you again. You are a beginner and you MUST consider the risk/reward very carefully. The less you know, the less experience you have, the less risk you should take. IMHO.

Use a UK based trading company to deal with the factory for you. There are many to choose from. UK based because you can visit them, assess them, speak the same language, understand the culture, agree safe payment terms. And if something does go wrong, you know where they live.

After experience, you can make a more reasoned choice of the way forward. You just need ONE container to go wrong and you are stuffed.

Hi Webtrust,

What quantities are you buying from them? If FCLs, it should be possible to work on other payment terms not to be ripped off.

We can check the Chinese company for you if you want.

Trading companies in the UK is a good idea...but you can also check for sourcing agents in China. You could ask for references...if they are genuine they won't hesitate to share them...
