Getting a cscs card but no trade

I get offered work from time to time working on building sites as a handyman but I have had to turn it down as I don't have a cscs card but cant get a simple answer for cscs as to how I go about getting one.
so I'm self-employed but I don't have a trade qualification any advice welcome

You don't need a specific trade for CSCS it's just a health and safety thing just says you have done the exam which is just common sense. Google CSCS to see who is your closest provider, I think it was about £30 the last time I did it.

not anymore I just had all the same problems,they dont tell you what you need ,you need to tell them.If you dont have a building qualification that has covered health and safety you'll need to do a health and safety course and then apply for your card.Because I did a diploma and not a nvq I cant get a trade card I've just got a labourer card which still get me onsite.I dont know what the health and safety course is but the card is £50 and it took me 15 mins to do.Its all multiple choice,easy stuff. Its a money spin if you ask me but apparently its how you tell if your safe to work on site.
If you need to tell someone that a knife is sharp you shouldnt be giving them one in the first place! t

yea I rang them up to do mine but like I said they're not very helpful its just a number you ring to book the test you still need to know what test to book but ring them anyway and they might be able to point you in the right direction I think the health and safety test is called citb and you might be able to do it online.

hi you need to do a day course make sure they are connected to cscs! you will get a certificate, then you book a cscs course online these are normaly held at the same places driving theory tests are held

Not sure if you got your card sorted but in general you need the Green CSCS card to work on construction sites. Heres a rough guide on CSCS cards https://www.operativehire.co.uk/cscs-card/.
