A friend who is disabled and a pregnant wife got their keys to their new house yesterday. Delivery company have been really nasty and aggressive since they loaded furniture onto their removal truck.
Removal firm have refused to deliver furniture unless my friend pays an extra £1000 on top of original which has already gone up a few hundred.
Friends wife due in 2 weeks ended up with GP today as totally distressed.
Removal company has already damaged lots of items. Police don't want to know even though they are being held to ransom. Any advice gratefully received.

Might not be what they want to hear but if they want their possessions they need to pay the money.

They can then take legal action to recover the money.

As to the damage to the items - that's an insurance claim.

Thanks for replying, a deposit was paid. Then on day of removal another large amount was paid before packing. Once packed and loaded on van £1000 extra was asked for and said he wouldn't deliver without it, gave my Friend 3 hrs to pay. Friend paid this extortion money within 3 hrs then asked if they would now deliver, they said on Monday. Friend asked what time, courier guy said you sound aggressive I am not going to deliver at all now.
Courier also added the longer it goes on the more its going to cost!
It is a small company website appears legit, obviously fake wonderful reviews.
It looks as though it doesn't matter what he pays they will ask for more.
Important meds on with them also, which will ' go off'
Police have been contacted as all conversations have been recorded, as the pregnant wife was getting bullied by courier. Police are looking into as blackmail and extortion.

It's a shame the police don't lift a finger to prosecute the criminals in these types of rackets because they're conning people like this every day.

if it's an Ltd that you contracted with it's fairly pointless suing it unless the directors behind it are real people with personal assets in which case you could sue both as the Ltd is being used as an instrument for fraud but who wants to go down this route while in the meantime your furniture could up being sold or dumped?

It really is undisguised theft under the Theft Act and also harassment if not some of the others offences you mention.

I am not surprised and I am deeply sorry to hear this news

I can not stipulate and advise enough for people that are looking to use a removal company to use the The British association of removers members only
The country and the EU are full of delivery comparison sites ,resellers ,market traders and who knows what else .

My mate quoted for a big move to go to Macedonia he did not get the job as the customer went with a quote one third of the price . Three months later he got a message that the company had gone missing with the the freight

If you DM me the details I will have a look also any site that directed you to this outfit

@skye321 - where did you find the removals company? Did you check their associations with professional bodies?

Once packed and loaded on van £1000 extra
    What reason was given?

Removal company has already damaged lots of items
If they have it, how do you know?

What does your contract with them state about costs, extra's etc??

Communicate by email so you have a written trail.
Pay the money to get the goods delivered.
    Report them to trading standards.
Small claims court for your money.

I would only pay upon them actually delivering, who's to say they don't take the £ and ask for more?
Then that would definitely be illegal!

Write to them and get a written confirmation back from them.

BTW, what are your options? Turning up to their place with a van and a few local body builders?

My mate's son was a painfully thin 6'3" tall 10 stoner, but was completely *fearless. He once said he loves it when confronted with bodybuilder types as they can't run fast.?

    *psycho?
It's all one big myth if you get.a little bloke that is fit and can move on his feet and wear the big man down he can finish him off with the big man tired

No big man is going to want to mix with a fly weight boxer if he had any brains. The boxer would chop him like a tree

That's why I run 4 miles every morning because I get bullied by the usual suspects on here ???

I heard about the crazy situation your friend is going through with the removal company and wanted to check-in. Seriously sorry they're dealing with this stress, especially with the baby so close.

Quick question – do they have any written confirmation from the removal company about the booking details? Just trying to figure out why they're suddenly asking for an extra £1000. Seems way over the top, right? Sometimes, moving companies might need to adjust for extra boxes or packing materials on the day, but it's typically within a reasonable range, like £50-£70 on a total cost of £1200.

If they're up for it, maybe suggest hiring another company to get their stuff sorted faster. I know it's an extra cost, but might be worth it to get out of this mess. They can then pursue legal action to recover damages and resolve the dispute with the initial company.
Filing a complaint with trading standards and hitting them up in small claims court could be an option.

Oh, and just throwing it out there – ever thought about letting local media know? Sometimes, shining a light on these issues can make a company rethink its moves.

Trust pilot is littered with complaints of similar experiences of so-called "removal" firms who will gladly remove your goods and then demand extortionate payments for their return or if you are very lucky delivery.
