Is there such a thing?

I'm not talking about facebook or twitter, ideally I'm looking at places either online or print where we can offer our services, without any cost.

Gumtree may be an option, however I'm unsure as to whether they charge should we place multiple ads.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

see the site below, the are plenty but targeted is the problem. Also on there the are sites that offer to show your site for exchange of something else. For example traffic exchanges, this is where you view sites in your browser and earn a credit. You then use that credit to advertise your site to other members. Not suitable for all I know but for say an hour you could earn enough credit to see if it's worthwhile buying credits, they can be very cheap if the sort of traffic suits your needs.

On the back of all this also, as a member you get a profile page or / and a blog and also you might be able add your link to members directors. So the can be a SEO benefit too.

This was an immense help, thank you very much!

Liybpg - I'm enquiring on behalf of my day job, who provide vehicle loans.

Why don't you set up a website (can be a paid one or free - sup to you), and build something great, then simply drive traffic there? Start a blog, do some SEO, etc.

Whatever it takes, yknow?

What's your business? Might be able to give you more specific advice.

Ben.

Ben.

Hi Ben, thanks for the advice. The purpose of this campaign is more brand awareness than actually getting people onto our website.

The company I work for provide secured vehicle loans, however the increasing cost of regional newspaper advertising has left them looking at other viable alternatives, I suggested that we could investigate free classified websites (or similar) purely just as a platform to push the name and product onto as many sites as possible, even if no prospective leads come from it I have been told will be beneficial in any case as it will increase google ranking etc.

if you want to advertise then there are lots of free classified sites on which you can post advertisement.
And inform users about your services.
Thanks.

You could also write some articles and place them for free on various article sites. Find out what keywords people who want your loans are searching for then write an article optimised to those keywords and pop in somewhere like ezinearticles, all for free.

You need to target something like vehicle loans. Unfortunately, there's little of anything okay for free, never mind good, and you'll never get anything good for free.

What you're looking at, is a website owner gifting you a portion of their web space for nothing. You could beg I suppose, but you'll likely get ignored as the sites with value are of a size and popularity that exceeds yours, so you've nothing to offer them in return, so link exchange is out, or at least they'll see it that way.

Getting free stuff is about barter, thus you need something to barter with, make sense? Trouble is, good results, whether its traffic, SEO value, links, branding etc always have a cost attached, and the beggers, freeloaders etc don't have much to offer anyway, so why they expect a freebie is beyond me.

Eg:

Website A gets 1 million visitors a month

Site B gets 1000 visitors, and wants to link swap.....

Who has the advantage, SO, why on earth would site A consider linking with some inferior site.

The freebie biz model only works for some sites - eg: search tools like directories, search engines and many info portals make a living doing it. The good sites won't let you in though, so you either need to offer something of equal value or payment in return.

This is just life, and business....

Too add:

Don't forget, there are 'leagues' on the web, think ranks, divisions, well this applies to the websites out there, and webmasters are in competition with each other, competing to see who is top dog, and some sites in each league are very good indeed and can deliver.

Not only do you get industry leagues, you get general traffic sending leagues, so you have a choice whether to pursue traffic or to target your ads.

There's thousands of good sites to advertise on, but you got to pay to be on them.

I dont believe there is such a thing as free advertising. The only thing would be to try and create a buzz around something and then word of mouth is free. Tumblr is great for getting people spreading the word
