Just done two weeks facebook ad, got about 400 clicks to website and over 15000 impressions but no single sale.
Realised that the landing page is probably not upto standard for conversion, hence paused the ad because its waste of money.

Really need someone to help with sorting out the best and cost effective advertising/ marketing channels.
Anyone who can help please pm or respond so we can discuss further

How was your ad setup did you target specific demographics/interests?

B2C typically does better than B2B. Too many people fail because they are lazy. What do I mean by that? Creating one or two ads, not enough.

The power editor will help you create multiple ad variations. You need to split interests/ad image/age ranges up. Lets say you have 4 image variations, 4 interest groups and 6 age groups (e.g. 18-20,21-24,25-28,29-31,32-38,39-45) thats 96 ad variations.

Even if you don't get no sales this *should* give you data on who is interested.

You have no FB tracking pixel on your site either, you could be capturing that traffic and re-targeting them.

Some good advice here. I too have experimented with FB ads and have countless times struggled. It's one of those areas you get better at with experimentation.

If you're not able to make money using Facebook ads then there's almost certainly something wrong elsewhere in your marketing and product strategy, or you're targeting your advertising poorly. Almost everything I've ever tested on Facebook sells, even b2b works great on there.

As garyk notes it's important to target very specifically on Facebook. You can break people down into very small segments. It is a good idea for testing to make sure you pick a small enough segment that everyone in the segment can see the ad variations at least a couple of times and that you're running a good few ad variations.

For testing a good way to do this if you don't have significant resources to test dozens at once is to simply write some copy and pick 3 good images to go with it. Test those 3 images with the same copy on an audience. Pick the winner, then test 3 different copy variations with that winner, pick the winner, test the original vs the same copy with 3 different images, and so on.

For some products (usually more expensive b2c and for b2b) a good funnel can be better than trying to get immediate sales.

eg.

Facebook ad that piques their interest --> Article that answers their questions and encourages them to download an ebook/video/course that further answers their needs --> e-mail series that leads them to buy + remarketing all those that visited the article with different ads and a new landing page.

Facebook is not for selling its just for idiots to chat on. They are not looking to buy anything and whilst they just may possibly remember your ad and look you up many moons down the road it's by no means the best tool for the job

Anyone who wants to buy something will automatically go to either Google or Bing or amazon and Ebay

Yep that is about the size of it @Chris Ashdown it only works for some things. Its better if you are selling something tied to someone is passionate about. As an example I'm quite into retro games/old 8 bit computers and there is a large number of fan pages covering this with hungry/passionate people who with the right offer would respond to something.

In other words, hello kitty kitsch will do well. Garden fences not so well. Wholesales hair extension probably not a good product either.

OK you need to split your age range up much more, 18-20, 21-23 etc.

You need to build interests that people can relate to. I did a quick google search for 'hair extensions' and what comes up? 2 days ago a news item about old geordie chezza (with the un-pronounceable surname) has been snapped wearing hair extensions. Tap into the celebrity aspect, 'Do you want hair extensions that look as good as Cheryl's?' and target people that like her. Repeat for other celebs. I'm sure you get the idea.

Hi Tbozz, Do you implement an analysis first for the target audience before you launched this target advert? What i mean is, A research on your target's behavior in different platforms like blog sites and forum sites which are related to your field. This will give you a great idea on how to strategically reach them through your advert.

From peoples experience with FaceBook - are there only certain types of products that sell ?

My opinion is that people no longer just click and buy whatever it is you are selling - sure they may click on your Ad - but then they will check other reviews - then they will watch some youtube of your product / service - then they will will compare prices against Amazon / eBay etc - and then they will purchase - maybe your product or they may have gone elsewhere for the product.

And if you think about it - that is probably what you do yourself - I know I do.

FaceBook is great in that you can narrow down your target audience - but buyer intelligence has evolved nowadays
