Believe it or not, the reason we wanted to embark on this change was to actually give UKBF a bit of an identity.
Why does it need an identity?

People use UKBF to ask questions or provide answers. That's its identity: the biggest and most popular business forums in the UK.

What has happened over the years is people have tried to make if more than just a forum and it hasn't really worked. If you stripped it back to the core and make the forum the centriepeice then it would have an identity. The articles, blog and directory are just bolt on bling. Even things like the trophies are pointless.

Because the header is this white bland element it's no longer even a masthead introducing the forum.

PS: it's so bland I've only just noticed I've got a PM. There used to be a coloured blob to indicate a meassage/notification. Now it looks the same as everything else.

Change can be good - The forum header logo could be improved. Possibly similar to something I've created below? Other than that, I like the look. As mentioned before - people visit here for the advice and support rather than the design!

Now the site is bedded in, can I ask for 2 changes, please.

The notifications area - it is very difficult to read the number of notificationsdue tothe size of the icon and the font inside the circle.

Once notifications are open the whole paragraph is in the same thick font which, again, is not that easy to read, but, more importantly, there is no differentiation within the paragraph. It used to show the thread title diffrently so you could immediately see where to click.

Separately, and nothing to do with the changes, it has always annoyed me that hovering over the notification icon eventually opens it and clears all the notifications from the icon. So you may have 6 notifications, you click on 2 of them and the number of notifications reverts to zero, even though there are 4 you haven't clicked on. Is that changeable?

I wonder with all the expert designers on this forum, how many of them would suggest to there customers such a basic simplistic site design that looks like made by a 14 year old learning computers at school

It is true the site is for business people to get information and help if needed, but that's not the first impression new members will see, they especially do not expect to see a advert as a header which if they follow it will immediately take them away from further exploration of the site, few will progress far with such a basic non interesting Logo and menu

Seems everyone got used to the new look and learned to live with it perhaps? A stock market forum that I used to frequent just went through a similar change (although much more drastic, major changes to functionality, and the worst visual layout I've ever seen) and people are exiting in droves, and the ones who are staying are complaining rather loudly. I wonder if all changes eventually are just accepted, and if the developers keep quiet and ride it out for a few weeks without making changes the opposition just naturally dies down.

To me I just expect a business site should have at it heart a professional looking site, which this site definitely is not,

Ignoring the readers forum, it looks terrible for the advertisers as it has little visual impact. ts hould firstly tell you who it is and then advertisements as required

It does not even seem to have a registered trademark design

I would ask any website designers if they would suggest this format to their customers simple answer yes/no
