Energy Disconnection

New member with a real headache I have just replied to a thread on here but it was an old one so thought I would get more advice making a new one hope that's OK::

I wonder if there is any energy experts who could advise on my issue: will try and keep it short:
We took a lease on a restaurant 18 months ago, as soon as we got keys we opened a gas and electric account, the current supplier BGP blocked the transfer several times due to an issue with outgoing tenant (totally unrelated to us) eventually they opened up an account and said they would re-bill and honour the rates that we got at the time of setting up account this took 12 months or thereabouts! They have now sent us a bill of 30k on a higher rate than we obtained, and want it immediately, and we just don't have it, they are saying we should of put money aside etc, which ok yes I agree but when not having a bill and all the other expenses it's easier said than done. So they are now threatening disconnection. I even thought let's pay it and just write it off but they won't take any installment plan, want immediate payment.

Question I have is, if we liquidate the Ltd company and get the landlords solicitors to assign us a new lease in a new ltd company, will.they block the transfer as directors have same names? This is the only option I can come up with to survive.

Welcome to the UKBF no energy expert myself but do you not have the written confirmation from your supplier stating the rate that had been agreed upon. If so surely you go back (in writing) and tell them they have it wrong enclosing copy of said agreed price and get re billed correctly.

I think with your last scenario you are just going to find yourself back at square one ......pretty sure you will have trouble signing up a new contract with current supplier and possibly struggle to find another.

There are a couple of energy gurus here hopefully they can offer better advice and a way out which is a lot more constructive.

Thank you for the reply, they have deadlocked the compliant and told me to raise with omnusbudman with all my evidence, which I have done, but in the meantime I think they can still apply for disconnection, while omnusbudman looking it. And I have this awful guy I'm dealing with at British gas who seems he'll bent on disconnection, no negotiation no time etc. Even though it's took them nearly 8 months to generate the bill.

Please clarify who you are referring to as 'they' here. The Utility provider?

"will.they block the transfer as directors have same names?"
