Effectiveness of milliondollarhompage adverts

Hello All.
A few days ago, someone posted 16 testimonials which vouched for the effectiveness of milliondollarhompage advertising. I was able to fill in a web form on about 4 or 5 of the websites to ask for confirmation of these vouchers. So far I have received one confirmation, it reads...

Now I know that I have had only one reply, and that it does not constitute proof beyond a reasonable doubt, but I have to admit that I now tend to believe in the effectiveness which milliondollarhomepage claims for some advertisers.

MDH has received massive press publicity in the month or so since it's been launch, so I'm not surprised the sites on it have seen very large increases in traffic and sales.

The big question has got to be how long can these rises be maintained? Suerly in a month or so the publicity will die down and the site visitors will dry up. Then what? I guess at $1 per pixel can can't really complain!

Yes I see. Since I never heard of this pixel advertising before joining UKBF, I was unaware of its promotion.

The same type of thing happened to me when I did leaflet drops in commercial and industrial areas for signs. The enquiries would gradually become sparser during the following days/weeks, even if I hit them with further leaflets. I soon learned to leave the area alone for a while so it could recover, and move on to another area.

So why in blazing dickings are we speaking in $s when the unit of currency in this nation is £s?

I know i am being pinickety but i notice it all the time.

also on the local news, the amount this lad from wiltshire finally sold the last pixels for was $30,000, ok so what is this in uk pounds? means little to me

You could probably say that for every business. Everyone wants a share! At the end of the day it's just a page on the internet with paid for ads. Just like you get in magazines etc - but with mags you know it will reach a certain amount of readers anyway.

Go for it if you think you can make some cash out of it. But I would create one for local things and help get those small businesses that don't have a website to get noticed online. maybe like local ads or something but for plumbers etc.

I would create one where it costs only 1p (or £1) to advertise and have a good database online with categories etc this would avoid image loading..

absolutely. pixels are great for traffic.
here's my advertising blog if you have 5 mins, and here is my pixel directory, it ranks about 350k on alexa, gets 2000 visitors per month and is PR5.
A lot of folk seem irritated by pixels and pixel sites, mostly people who have sites that don't make any money. Advertising is advertising, getting your name/brand/logo out in the big wide world, so everyone recognises it, feels affiliated with it in some way....and comes shopping. Anyone who considers themselves 'in marketing' should be looking at the pixel phenomenon with open minds and open wallets.
