ebay shop starter guide??

Hi guys

Im gonna have another go at ebay shop as i can see lots of other shops doing well when i stock same products and can compete on price.

Couple of years ago i had a go but used it really to get rid of old stock and then the prices all changed etc so gave up.

So...im starting to sell odd bits again and will consider upgrading to a shop soon once i got used to system again and selling a few items a week.

Is there any good places to get help in setting up good shop on ebay? via book / websites / forums??

Or anyone here got some good tips on how to run sucessfull ebay shop and good tools to help me on my way??

Want to reach 50 orders a month then hopefully at least 50 orders per week by end of year. There are plenty of shops doing 1000's a month.

Im basically after some general advise on running a ebay shop. Or where i can find some info on this.

There's a dvd starter package called easy auction business, Its been created by a guy who runs and owns his own ebay shops. It gives you step by step by help. It also shows you the do's and dont's. It might be worth checking this out.

Had a look and its £67 and looks very similar to scam sites selling poor info to make money.
Do you have any feedback from it personally or form others at all??

Anyone else got any ideas where to get info on running a good ebay store??

I am in the process of closing my eBay shop as I am sick and tired of all the rule changes, fee hikes etc - but please do not be put off by my negativity

Saying that though - it is an excellent platform to get worldwide sales for a relatively low set up cost.- and also gives you good grounding for setting up your own online website -

I would steer clear of books manuals etc. Log onto the discussion boards - you will get countless hints and tips there from fellow wBay sellers - it is the business selling board and the ebay shops boards you want, under the community tabs

You will find a lot of winging going on - but there is plentiful advice and many of the sellers will offer free advice / help

I agree - BUT - there is no point having a shop and no traffic - with eBay you can guarentee worldwide coverage - and will get excellent sales - I had 5,000 customers last year - I doubt I would have that footfall on my own site

With that many sales, i would think having your own site as well would be beneficial? Sounds like you have ideal products. They both go hand in hand in my opinion

I pay about 5.5% to ebay on each sale. It is safe and flexible (no contracts etc), you can sell without being bothered about lots of technical stuff. Even now, while sitting in the library I've sold stuff on about £130, making a profit of about £45. Not bad I think. If you have a larger business, it may make sense to sell elsewhere. For a started, ebay is the perfect place

Ebay is expensive but unfortunately untill amazon get moving with your own micro sites then ebay is an essential part of selling online. All big websites are on ebay in some way.

Yea i have bought this myself, i was worried about it at first thinking it could be a scam and things like that. But its definetly a good investment if your wanting to start up a e-bay store, its full of helpful resources and facts.

eBay is always a good idea to start off with if you have limited funds. If you search hard enough there are plenty suppliers to get you started selling on eBay.
