E-commerce solution/software Help

Hello

I have been searching the internet for an hour or so hoping to find the best fit e-commerce solution/software for our new shop.

Basically, we have bought a domain and are having a website designed and hosted on Wordpress. We have since been quoted for a bespoke e-commerce system which we thought was rather dear. So I have been looking for an off-the-shelf shopping cart software that is SEO friendly, completely safe and does not affect the aesthetics of the design. Ideally, would like it to be a 2 click checkout with the option to register, good for impulse buyers??

We will have 200+ products or so, and would like to offer discount promotions, have flexibility with postage costs etc. The usual requirements from a shopping cart.

Excuse being ignorant, but will we need a developer to aid us implement the software? I have been reading about Trading Eye, Magento , Volusion and Actinic. Can anyone recommend these? I notice that developers buy licences, so do we just get involved with a freelancer that has a licence?

Wordpress has several plug ins that will run a shop for you - you do not need separate software.

Have a google!

I'm trying to set-up an internet business, and I'm looking for a site with proper videos that can be seen online. I do not want to download videos, I want to see them online.
Basically, I need good information about everything from getting traffic, building email lists, affiliate marketing and all the things that are needed for an internet business. I've been reading forums and downloading free rubbish for weeks and I'm getting really fed up.
Is there any site where I can just log in, and learn online about marketing and internet business?
Also, what type of internet business is good and doing well? I am not rich so I am looking to set up a site or blog on a low budget.

i would also take a look at prestashop.

Most software you look at will do what you want. The issue will be getting wordpress and the shop to link together. It depends on why you want them to link together.

You culd just get a shop and get a blog plugin for that? I think presta has something that does that.

Not sure how it works with Wordpress but you could always check out open mind commerce, it's uk built and really easy to use - eCommerce Software

You must search for a shopping cart plugin which suits your requirements from wordpress extensions, visit wordpress website, this wil be be the best way as you dont like that asthetics of the website are disturbed, if you are not very familiar with installtion and configuration, you may need to find some one who can help you with this for a small fee.

Has this got easier over the years? I tried Actinic a few years back and found it really complicated? or was this just me? (it probably was)

From our past experience, out of the providers that you mentioned, I would recommend Volusion. The have various plans based on your product-count, and all of the features that you mentioned are offered on each of their monthly packages - promos, coupons/discounts, register and/or anonymous checkout, security (PCI certified, hosting included), good stats and analytics. They also offer free phone support, which I do not believe is the case with any of the other companies you had listed.
