Well now I have North Dorset covered.........if we go on at this rate we could take over the world! If they understood us.

Anyone out there know of any good networking sites/companies in Dorset. I run a PAT testing/ electrical testing and Inspection business and wanted to get out there and spread the word a bit??

'Keep fighting the good fight!!'

Regards to all...........

Hi Phil , i started my own appointment making / telemarketing company in september ....i make quality appointments for clients such as accountants , graphic designers and I.F.As , i am a sole trader at the moment but i am turning work down at the moment as there aren't enough hours in the day to call for everyone ! I am bringing my daughter down tomorrow , she is 18 and has been down sherbourn for a couple of day trips but has never been up the castles ..or sat in raleighs seat , so i am going to show her the sights and sounds of sherbourn city !

lol , that is when we are coming back..., as i said small world ! Anyway , i see you are in the insurance game..hope business is good for you too .As for telemarketing being hard ..., well it can be , but i find a friendly but professional soft sell approach works best, and if someone says no a few times then i just say thank you and have a good day and move on to the next one..i believe that quality is better than quantity is much better when it comes to making appointments , and pressuring someone in to something they do not have any interest in is just a waste of my time, my clients , and the customers !For example, my accoutancy clients , of which i have 3, convert around 50% of the meetings i set up in to business ..i only book meetings with people with a genuine interest in my clients product or services , and i do not bother with time wasters or '' half chancers'' ..a lot of telemarketing companies do , that is why i believe i offer something a little different. Also i have to say..i think insurance is way harder than telemarketing !
Anyway , all the best Phil ...good to chat to someone from the town with the most ill named road in the uk .......cheap street ???? :)

Hello, I'm Justin from, (not so sunny!), Westbourne near Bournemouth.

I am the proud owner of "DorsetDirectory.tel" domain.

I have just found this forum & I love it! What a great place to learn from the experience of others, find tips and (hopefully) give advice to others.

I am very keen to develop Dorset's first mobile browser friendly directory service. The directory will include more than the traditional telephone & fax numbers, it will include:

Contact Info:
Telephone No's (landline’s & mobile’s)
Fax No's
SMS
Email Addresses
VoIP addresses
Skype
Instant Messaging addresses

Content Links:
Website Links (corporate site(s), partner(s), affiliates, forums & blogs)

Navigation Links:
City
Branch
Departments
Brands

Geolocations:
Maps to head office, Local Offices, Warehouses, etc..

Indexable Text:
Information (Including company name, addresses and descriptive text)
Keywords (That describe your business)

This is not going to be just another directory!

I found this forum trying to overcome my first obstacle (not problem!)…
I am trying to find out if I need some sort of “agreement” / “advertising agreement”, and if I do, how this would need to be worded, what would it have to include, (to safeguard the customer / advertiser and myself as I’m a sole trader at this time).

I have something written already, but I would like to find someone with experience that could amend and or suggest inclusions, (free of charge), as I can not yet afford to pay for this service.

BUT I am happy to include such a professional (whom is based in the Dorset area) in my directory free of charge

I am also prepared to extend the above offer to anyone (whom is based in the Dorset area) that can provide valuable help and assistance, (free of charge!), in the key areas of the business model that I may encounter legal, (etc), problems.

Hi all, am also in Poole (Branksome Park) having moved down from London about 2 yrs ago. Building up an online event registration/marketing system (EventHQ.co.uk) but also working all hours doing custom PHP programming to keep the cash coming in.

Took me a year or so to adapt from London to Poole but much as I love going back to the city, I like it here more now.

There is the 'dotdorset' group for IT types that meets around Dorset BTW.

Cheers, Ian

Hi Andy

Cheers, I am based in Boscombe at present. Would it be yourself I would need to talk to with regards to arranging nationwide deliveries for one of my customers, and would I be able to drop deliveries to your depot ? not sure how you work with things, and at the same time if I can be of any assistance to you let me know.
Is there a size/weight limit for the parcels/items you can deliver?

regards

mike
