Does email count as written notice?

Does email sent through a form count as written notice when cancelling a service, if you receive acknowledgment to the email?

I would tend to think yes (especially as you say you received a reply back..was this an automated response or tailored reply?) - but maybe one of the legal experts on this forum will care to comment. I would caveat by saying, always check the terms and conditions of the service provider you're trying to cancel as they may well define the method and process for accepted cancellation procedures.

In general writing means other than spoken and thus includes any digital writing that can be preserved by the recipient. Consumer legislation specifically includes email as an acceptable medium for cancelation. So the answer is 'Yes' unless you ordered for business purposes and the sellers terms require cancelation to be by letter.

I'm guessing not, as the sender can delete a tweet, as opposed to an email, that you can't once it is on the receipients server.

What if the company replied? Would that constitute a receipt of delivery? Might have a Google, I reckon someone in the US may have already tried this...
