      Hi
I was really interested to read this thread, and the really helpful advice and letter examples that have been offered.

I too have had a similar experience with unpaid invoices.
I am a Consultant, and was approached by a large London based Accountancy Firm, to look into a company based in Bristol that they were looking to go into partnership with.
In September 2013, I was initially asked to work for 15 days plus reasonable expenses. I wasn't given an official Contract, but I did receive specific emails & details on my role & payment per day (£600 per day) from the Chief Operating officer of the Accountancy firm. Subsequently I was offered a longer term deal, over two years, at £400 a day, and/or an option to transfer part of my future earnings into stock/shares.
After 3 months, I sent them my first quarterly invoice. It was overlooked, never questioned, but not paid. I continued to work on the promise that remuneration would be shortly forthcoming. Also, an offer of a stock option was on the table, & mention that it would be finalised in a detailed contract. I did receive an outline contract but this was never finalised. By March 2013, due to non-payment of my invoices, totalling £20,000 by now, I called a halt to my work with them. I sent an email requesting payment, but only received rude emails in return. They were disappointed that I no longer wanted to work for them!
I now need to persue payment, but quite honestly I really don't know which way to turn. Small Claims Courts only deal with claims upto £10,000, so I am scuppered there! Any help from you guys would be greatfully appreciated.
      Kind regards
      Veronica
