I'm considering a run of around 500 custom printed hoodies. Might anyone with some experience in this area be able to suggest the kind of price I should be looking for?

I'm looking for a relatively decent quality, with the design most likelly being 3 colours (plus a few different hoodie material colours) in varying sizes.

Would the price difference be worth ordering from a foreign supplier, or might it be better to pay slightly more to order from the UK?

Any advice or company reccomendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jonny

P.S. Can anyone reccomend a good way to test the market for demand of the design before ordering in bulk? Such as market research surveys etc. or some type of cafepress type system where the designs are printed after being ordered. Though in the long run our primary outlet will be retail stores, and not online.

I can recommend a company that will answer all your questions, I've worked with the owner for over 12 years now. Her company website is Proactivemerchandise, do a google search as I'm unable to post a URL (newbie!)
Hope that helps!

Hi
if you are selling off a site I suggest you do a PDF visual of the designs to see what response you get, you could sell subject to availability and if you only get 2 people wanted a particular design then you know now to run it !
on most print runs it is not cost effective to do under 100 units due to set up costs and the more colours your design has the more expensive if becomes. There are great stocks of Hoodies in the UK from basic ranges to more styled design. Just be careful too about sizes don't offer too many or you could be left with stock

At a very rough estimate, I'd guess about £10 per unit inc VAT for a 3-colour print on a good quality hoodie.

As far as testing the water, I'm actually involved in a company that lets you sell online and print on-demand as they're ordered. I won't plug here, but PM me if you'd like me to pass on a link
