Does anyone know whether is possible to get a custom 0203 or 0207 number?

Not looking for something like 0203 333 4444 as I am aware they might be very expensive, if this would be an option, but something similar that would be easy to remember.

I know I won't be able to keep the number should the company moves to a different area but this won't be a problem.

Sure, we have thousands and because it's VoIP you can take them anywhere you go in the world.

You can find the numbers on our web site once you've created an account but It's best to call us first so we can establish what's best - 0207 043 5555.

Can't speak for BT I'm afraid - I have no idea what they do with their premium numbers - why not ask them. Once you've got over the shock, get back to me :)

Why oh why do people think there is a place on earth with a telephone code 0203 or 0207 or 0208 ?

The code for London is 020.

When in London, we dial 7457 4523 or 8268 2547.

Perhaps before looking for a number, one should first establish what the areas code actually is !

Because when the original central London code of 01 was split into inner 071 and outer 081 back in the day, people wanted the snob value of the inner London 071 and that 7 has continued in 0207. In fact 0207 numbers ran out ten years ago and are increasingly hard and expensive to find.

You're right that it shouldn't be written and said in that way - it should be 020 7xxx xxxx - it's interesting that even I do it occasionally, even though I actually do know better.

I know you know, you know I know, I thought it funny (as you note) that even those in the industry can be lulled into quoting numbers as others so often mistake them :)

To the OP: Numbers with repeating digits or sequences are called often called Gold" numbers by providers.

In your case, I would find a provider and just look through their lists. It's more important that the number trips off the tongue easily. Some "Bronze" numbers actually sound better than "Gold" ones.

We are an affiliate of a provider that still has 0207 numbers; some of our clients want a London number occasionally.

Most 0207 and 0208 numbers are classed as Gold numbers irrelevant of whether they're nicely repeating or look good, as cjd as mentioned they're increasingly hard to get hold of, and can start at £100+ for each individual number.

Plenty of customers request 0207 numbers because, as previously mentioned, it's all about being snobbish and appear to be based in Central London which is where the 0207 area code covers.

Well, appearances are important. One should try to project a consistent image.

In my opinion, people glance over websites and if something doesn't match, it causes doubt.

If they expect an 0207 number, give it to them. A sole trader, who is presenting himself as such, is fine with a mobile number.

Thanks but I knew what the code for London is.

Callin 7xxx xxxx from a mobile won't work.

Having had a mobile since x years ago, it became second nature to call 0207 xxx xxxx and do the same while doing from the landline. In fact, I doubt many people living in London know you can actually just call 7xxx xxxx, no one ever uses it this way I'd assume!
