Hi all,

Well I am having some problems finding a courier to deliver my parcels Varying in weight from 1kg - 9-10kg More often that not they don't weigh over 5kg.

I currently don't send anything, but want to right away. So cannot gauge any volume.

All i want to do is phone, or go online and book a collection for all the parcels the same day and have them delivered next day. But I don't want to pay through the nose as it will just kill my profits.

I have been offered £9.99 next day but this seems excessive when you can go on a parcel broker and get £5.99-6.99

Does anyone have any advice to get a good price? A route to take? A recommended company? or anything else?

Thanks!

£9.99 sounds quite reasonable if they collect from you?

I guess you can pass on some if not all the cost on to the customer.

I would also take into account that paying that couple of extra £ may buy quality and reliability as it only takes one failed collection/delivery to lead to a bad review.

Saying that I have no idea what you are selling but from a consumers point of view I would pay that delivery cost - deepening on the item

I'm not sure you can get a parcel broker for £5.99 - £6.99 anymore for next day, certainly not including VAT. We use Interparcel, Parcels 2 Go, Parcel Monkey etc to send bathroom products and their prices have been escalating the last few weeks. My usual UPS next day booking has gone from £6.99 to £9.99 + VAT for items in the 8-10kg range. So your £9.99 quote is about right. TNT sent their rep round and couldn't match the broker price even though we were sending 10-20 items per week.

The fact is diesel costs are going through the roof and this will only see courier costs follow, our pallet deliveries have already risen drastically and it's difficult to pass this onto the customer.

My advice is to try a few brokers, most require booking before 12 midday, then stick with your favourite. As the other poster says reliability is important as is how the broker deals with things when it goes wrong and if you send enough product out it will at some point. Get friendly with the drivers, it was quite amazing how our damages reduced once we did that, I kid you not.

Try myhermes they have often been the cheapest
Yeah, but the last item I got through them took 2 WEEKS!! Resulted in me never going back to that supplier who values saving a few quid for a long turnaround by using them. A courier must deliver within 4-5 days IMO. It wasn't a next day service... but they shouldn't be storing parcels to be cost effective.

Good points made here .The costs have gone up a lot I recommend parcelsplease if you not sending a lot .My reason for giving these a mention is the fact that they offer telephone support should you need it . The telephone line means you can sometimes book a later collection .
Best off all try your local APC depot they are slightly more expensive but give a far better service than anybody else

    Hi,

Our cheapest rate at the moment is £6.99, excluding VAT, and we have many couriers to choose from.

If you've any questions please feel free to PM me, but our most frequent feedback is how easy the site is to use, so you can just dive right in. You can also carbon offset your deliveries and link up your online shop :)

Full customer service team too working until 11pm at night via email (phones until 4pm).

    Hope that helps,

    Nat
