Hi,
We signed up to a gym membership and were told by the gym that if we did it as a corporate membership, we could have the amount taken out of our salaries and we would not have to pay tax or NI on the amount so would effectively workout a lot cheaper.
We have now told the accountant about this and asked him to deduct the amount from the salary as a wage sacrifice and explained him the full details - he has come back saying this is not the case and you would still need to pay the tax and NI so it would not work out any cheaper for you.
Can someone please help us out on this before I speak to the gym about it?
Thank you
