I also had an order similar to that for Nigeria but my customer also requested 15 red jelly belly beans, a dora the explorer clock and 5000 business cards for someone called "joe king" (maybe Ray could do those though ?).

I do get these emails, usually once a week or so - asking me to fulfil unreal orders. It is only when we look at the address that we realise they think we are dumb.

We should start a thread with funniest things we have ever been asked for from Uganda / Nigeria....

Okay, Thats why if I am selling over the internet I ask for the full asking price then send away once money is recived.

In all seriousness though if you get one of these they DO pay up front and when you think the money is cleared you send the goods. It's only a week or so later when you get a letter from the bank and they take the money BACK from you that you know you have been done.

This is a serious issue and many people have been done...

 

I know about that, a friend told me that got done to him also we have sorted out with the bank that when the cheuqe clears that it carnt be returned, the bank manager also said that if then we can show them that the goods have been sent off that then they will stop the return of the money but if we carnt show them the prove then the money will be returnd to the buyer.

We use our own dilivery service so if the money does get returned, We will also stop the dilivery and charges will be made to the client.

We have seen a solicitor about this and the solicitor have also stated that we can take legal action about this as it can be classed as robbery.

How much is it going to cost to take action against a international crime your in the UK and they are in Nigeria or somewhere..... What are the chances of getting the money back?

 

Sorry, I was going to mention that once the money has cleared it gets moved into a different account to that department that deals with the order so, if it is a joke they wont get the money back.

I dont know the solicitor that I deal with said it will cost more to take legal action but depening where the client is.
