can someone clarify this for me, is it illegal yes or no? i dont do much of it but occasionally someone i have did work for will say try the neighbours etc, but i want to know if its illegal

well diferent coincils have diferent rules but i would paly it safe if the sign says its a no cold calling area move onto the next area.

This is being trialled in parts of our area just now. The Police will call you and warn you off from continuing with cold calling (they have done it to us) I think it comes under Civic Government Act allowing councils to ban certain types of activity.

We have also found an increase in notices on doors saying no cold callers or other notices with a list of people the house holder does not wish to chap on their door it is making chasing new customers extremely challenging.

Would it not count as a lead from a friend recommendation that you would be following up if somebody suggested you try their neighbours (and therefore not be cold calling)?

yes it does making gaining customers difficult for certain types of trade. in my experience when ive dropped leaflets in these areas and i have picked up new work and i mentioned the stickers, the customers has said oh thats not for you its for rouge traders, how they dont know i am not a rouge at this stage is beyond me though. i am not by the way:D

yes i tend to ignore it if been recommended but just wanted to know where i stand legally.

i have a new employee and could do with gaining some new custom quickly and find door knocking the most effective
