I have a client who is looking to take over / possibly purchase companies that have small amounts of debt

They can off set the current loss on tax according to the client
I am only asking the question - Something i haven't fully looked into but if anyone can advise that would be helpful

Yep, seems they are confused.

In any event, a company with debt does not necessarily mean that it has tax losses available.
