Hi I have made contact with a Chinese supplier who is sending me a sample of a garment, the item is a top so won't weight a lot.. The supplier is quoting 33 usd just for the postage.. Is this right for air courier rates from china?

Shipping costs depends mainly on the weight and size so it depends but $33 is in the range, you can always ask them for the weight to get some comparison quotes from other providers.

I think your supplier may add the garment cost to the postage charge. In general, it takes about USD20.00-23.00 is enough for DHL of Fedex.

I am not sure about the costs, but you can choose freight collect and ask the supplier to deduct the $33 from the price. It means you will pay the courier cost by yourself.you can ask the local Fedex or DHL how much will it be cost to send this kind of thing from China.

It seems reasonable, for light product, there's a start charge for first 0.5kg which is expensive.

If the total weight is higher (like over 30kg), suggest you find an air shipment agent to lower the cost.

Hi， the international courier fee is not only calculate by weight, but also by CBM, and they will always calculate by the bigger one. For example, we send one umbrella to USA, its weight is 1kg,but its finished packing size is 105cm*10cm*10cm, its CMB weight then is 105x10x10/5000=2.1 kgs, they will calculate cost by 2.1kgs not by 1kg. Generally prepaid cost will be 50%-60% of paid by collect depends on different courier company and different agent grade.

Having imported small items from China the figure seems to be right. Have to bear in mind this will be on an express service and should be with you in 2-3 days.
