Charity Website - help needed

Hi guys

I have free hosting for a charity website that I have agreed to do SEO work for voluntarily, however the site itself needs to be moved from the current host and I need some help.

I think a Wordpress site would be simplest and easy for me to maintain, but I do not know how to move a website, can someone help me please?

It's just a case of zipping the files up (if they are on cpanel) and then downloading the files to a new server.

Hang on... you say you think a wordpress site will be simplest, does that mean the current site is not wordpress?

Are you just looking to port content from wordpress to wordpress or from different static site to a new wordpress installation?

Yeah the old site definitely isn't wordpress, so the OP would need to do a conversion to wp.

That's not a move essentially. It can be quite tedious work to convert a static website to WP. Maybe a link to the current website would be of help so that people can see what they're getting into. I'd love to help, but I'm in no position to do so now

You're asking for 2 things here. You want to move your site to a new host, And you want to convert the website to a Wordpress CMS.

Moving is pretty easy - this could be done in less than an hour.

But converting to a CMS is pretty onerous, it could potentially take a few days.
