HI. Does anyone know if you can change your name (take my middle name out) and UK address as a previous director of a company listed on CH?

The form they have to do this appears to be for current directors.

Very grateful for any assistance with this.

No I don't believe you can.

If the director has resigned, you would need re-appoint him/her and then they would simply show as active director named "Julie Smith" at 123 Any Street, but you would still see the resigned director on that list as "Julie Joan Smith" at 321 Nowhere Street.

Allowing retrospective changes would mean that a director could retrospectively hide their connection to a company by changing the details enough to not look like them...

Fair enough, I see their point. But do you get a say in what is publically published? Some people don't know what they're doing and put their home address down. So now there's your full name, dob and address for all to see. That can't be on can it? Surely it's personal info (GDPR), but guess that all goes out the window when it comes to public knowledge on directors. Which I appreciate.

I know exactly what you mean - I made that mistake 7 years ago with my first company; put my home address down! I changed the address but it still showed the original address under the filing history tab. You can't escape it.

Its a public record and I suppose you give consent to its publication when you submit the forms.

Perhaps you could write to CH - they may have some kind of redaction policy if you can give them a good reason (just thinking out loud here though).

Please let us know how you get on!
Just to update you on this. You can complete a SR01 form and pay £55 and have your full address reduced to the first part of your postcode only, eg LE7. You just need to look through the filling history (probably when you started the company) and find the file that has your address on it. They then edit that, which changes the display details on the People tab on the CH website. I did this and it took about 6 weeks.

That's all you can do! At the moment. So you can't remove middles names, you can't hide DOB, and you can't change occupation. CH did say they are consulting on changes to this considering GDPR etc and it sounds like they will bring in something where you can change these others details or hide them.

    I hope that helps!
