Can't Log In To Magento Admin Panel

Hi all,

Having a weird problem with Magento. I am not able to log in to Magento Admin Panel despite using the correct username and password. It simply refreshes the page and does nothing else.
I have tried it on chrome, firefox and explorer and the problem is the same for them all.
The problem also occurs for my colleagues log in as well.

Weirdly, if I enter an incorrect password, it detects that it is incorrect.

Has anyone experienced this issue?

Sounds like a session/cookies problem. Either the session data isn't storing properly on the server side, or the cookies aren't being set in your browser properly. I would try asking your hosting provider about this, it could be a problem on their side and even if it isn't, they may offer to help. If not, it's a task for your web developer unfortunately. Has anything changed recently? e.g. server configuration, PHP version, Magento version?

Not as far as I am aware. Tbh I am a bit out of my depth on this, I just log in and do a few bits. Our main web guy is currently away on an extended holiday.

Firstly, try logging in with Chrome Incognito.

If it works, just clear your browser cache/cookies and try again.

Usually, the issue is local as opposed to something server/site-side.

That would be highly unlikely considering David has already tried logging in using multiple different browsers and his colleagues (presumably on different systems altogether) are also unable to login! Almost certainly an issue with the way the cookies / session data is being read or written on the server side IMO.

I gave it a try in incognito but no joy.

Mike I am going to try and find out who our hoster is and get them involved.

Do you have anything set in the following location?

System > Configuration > GENERAL > Web > Session Cookie Management

Cookie Lifetime
Cookie Path
Cookie Domain

Managed to pass this higher up the chain to someone more in the know. Thanks for the help
