Hi SYOB,

I teach people how to run their website effectively (to gain visitors, improve sales, etc). I also show people how to get started the right way without wasting lots of money. Certainly something I'd be interested in. Are you doing anything specifically local in Hampshire?

I can help with any logo design, branding and printing products they require in a cost effective and simple manner.

Most start up businesses cut corners on the quality of stationary, letterheads, business cards, brochures etc due to the costs involved, well with The Online Print Company I will work with the companies to spread cost where possible, provide them with top quality products and enable them to make a professional lasting impression from the very start.

If you require my assistance please visit the website or email me on [email protected]

Hi,

Message to start-ups: Don't blow your start-up IT budget when you have to re-invest in proper systems again later; it's a complete waste of valuable capital! We deliver enterprise IT servers and software for your company completely free of charge.

We include all the support for the workstations connecting to it, and ensure it works 100% with our unlimited support services. You pay, per month for the service you need. Upscale and downscale your requirements month-by month as you your company needs to flex resources!!. What's more, there are NO long term contracts!

If this helps somewhat, then check our the website for more info: www.truoffice.net

Thanks for the post.

I assist small businesses who are media owners with buying and selling advertising spaces. Many small or start-up businesses very often require assistance with sales so I hope we can help some of them for you. Thanks

Hi, we're based just up the road from you in Winchester.

As business advisers we help start-ups with everything from turning their ideas into commercial propositions, marketing strategy and PR (including a press release-writing service), to attracting their first clients and making their budget stretch further. Many of our clients have started up successfully with little or no funding, and at the moment we're seeing more student entrepreneurs and people starting new businesses after retirement.

Every month on a rolling programme we run a series of small business workshops locally (currently £49 for a half day) on a wide range of business topics - all focusing on the practical realities of running a successful small business. Further details can be found on our website (I'll PM you with the website address) where there's a free newsletter that anyone can subscribe to.

We also run a business support group in Winchester every other month. Let me know if you plan to do anything locally - I have many contacts in and around Winchester who might get involved. Feel free to drop me a line if you need any further information.

Fiona.

Fiona, completely off at a tangent here but did you know that Perspex is very heavily trademarked word?. It belongs to Lucite and is what they call their Acrylic, everyone calls that transparent plastic Perspex, when in fact there is only one Perspex, the rest is just Acrylic.

Maybe something to watch out for!

Perspex certainly is heavily trademarked for its industry (plastics) which is of course right. If my company were to start getting involved in plastics we'd probably have a solicitor's letter arrive fairly quickly, but as we're operating in unrelated industries where there is no conflict of interest and no trademark I'm aware of we should be ok.

I think you may need to get to grips with Trademarks.

I couldn't go out and design a car and cal it the "Coca cola" car just because people didn't drink it!

The word Perspex is a copyrighted word, never mind what industry it is in.

Two things are guaranteed to happen to anyone moving into new commercial premises:

1. You will automatically be put on out-of-contract rates by the incumbent business energy supplier which can be three times as high as normal rates.

2. You will be incessantly bombarded by dishonest energy brokers who buy new company details from data houses and pose as Meter Registration Officials with the aim of tricking you into a legally-binding verbal contract for up to five years on uncompetitive rates.

Here are two things you can do to prevent this (NB both are free services)...

1. Register with the Telephone Preference Service which cuts out a lot of unsolicited sales calls. 020 7291 3320

2. Ask Make It Cheaper to find - with total impartiality and without cost or obligation - the best business electricity deal going for your and report back with their recommendations. 0800 970 0077.

You can then dismiss all subsequent cold calls in a second by telling them you've already got someone on the case.
