Hello

I have recently started a blog called www.disabilitymeansbusiness.com

This website is a resource for disabled entrepreneurs who are self employed or wishing to start up their own business. In this website you will find useful articles on grants, Access to Work, equipment, interviews, information on up and coming events and product reviews.

The aim of this site is hopefully to save you time and money when starting up or developing your business and to put you in touch with other disabled entrepreneurs to share knowledge which is key to the success of your business.

Please let us know what you think, your feedback will be appreciated

Hi Jon, welcome to the forum. That's a really great idea - the site looks like a great resource. Do you run a business of your own which inspired you to start the blog?

I hope you find UKBF useful - let me know if you have any questions. :)

Hi Paula

I was self employed many moons ago, now I'm a business adviser (a member of the institute of business advisers and about to be put through SFEDI)

I'm passionate about self employment and how it can be an excellent way for disabled people to get back into work. From my experience disabled people often find it difficult to get main stream employment due to lack of qualifications (their school not understanding their disability), employer prejudice, or simply not having enough work/interview experience.

By becoming self employment they can avoid the interview process and provide for them selves and family. As you can see in my blog there is loads of support available it's just not promoted well enough.
