Business Utilities - SpongeBob Plan

I have recently used the Spongbob plan and vacated the premises due to becoming insolvent.

I contacted my utility suppliers who have said I just need to file a change of tenancy form to end the utilities contracts (water and electric) they have, however, asked for proof that I’m no longer in the premises. Obviously the landlord may not necessarily be forthcoming with an end of tenancy agreement. How else would I prove that I’m no longer in the premises?

Judging by other posts on this topic the utility companies are probably still going to chase you regardless, whose name were the contracts in and were there any PGs attached.

Hopefully you have taken photos of all meters before vacating the premises

When I contacted them they both told me they just need a change of tenancy form and they’d close the contract. But told me I’d need proof that I’m vacating the premises such as an end of tenancy document.

No PGs attached to any of the contracts.

Have you had any nasty letters from the landlord about leaving - those might work as proof

Just a guess I would think judging by another thread partings may not have been amicable.

Do you owe anything on the utility front

Owe nothing on any of the bills. I wasn’t sure if things were going to be amicable, however, I have just had an email from the landlord agreeing to terminate the lease and for me to hand the keys back over, she has also asked for the details of the utilities accounts for change of tenancy.

I was planning for the worse but it has relieved a lot of my stress.

Thanks for all your responses to my queries.
