Looking for recommendations on what people are using software wise for creating P/O's, booking in, creating advice notes, invoices, storing account customer details etc.

I used to use DATAFILE which ticked all the boxes but seeing what' out there?

I couldnt find anything that wasnt top heavy on features and used plain English with VAT etc easily set up so I hired a freelancer and for something less than £1k built exactly what I wanted with Zoho Creator. With a few tweaks it has served me magnificently for 6 years and proved its worth with reports alerts etc time and again.

I use Quickfile which is a UK based accounting system (sorry, I can't link here, but if you search for quickfile as a single word it should come up at the top). I'm not quite sure what you mean by booking in or advice notes but it does do purchase orders, invoices and storing customer account details. It has a free tier and the paid tiers start at a very reasonable annual fee, but if you need more that that, then something else might be better.
