Hi everyone,

I need some SEO software to promote a Garden Centre online store. Can anyone recommend any good software that's given them great results? Or what software does anyone here working in SEO use? I've been looking somewhere along the line of iBusinessPromoter.

Thanks,

Ben.

I use a custom script integrated into our office network to monitor the traffic we put through the search engines as well as other forms of information gathering, again built in house.

The one thing i can say, we went to a great deal of expense in terms of time to build such software, and the reason is non of the software i found was upto the challenges we put infront of it!

THanks

Nathan

Great results would be top 10 organic search results in Google / Yahoo etc.

I want an all in one package that covers: keyword and keyphrase research, web page optimization, link analysis and building, website postition tracking, web traffic analysis and also PPC campaign management. Phew.

Cheers,

Ben

As paro pointed out you won't get a software that will do all that, I first assumed you were after an SEO software for ranking not for EVERYTHING.

In this case, your going to have to look at various software programs and there are quite a few available, for your keyword research take a look at Wordtracker and Wordze or free tools such as Google keywords tool and wordtrackers free version

See these for detail
Top 3 Free keyword Tools
Top 3 Paid Keyword Tools

For the SEO side of things the best choices are probably SEO Elite for basic optimisation and probably good enough for what you need and Web CEO.

Check out here for reviews of them

Overall these softwares are their as tools to aid you in your SEO journey, they are not there to do the job for you.

Hope this helps.
Will.

the one thing you must remember about using any software, is they are only ever as good as the end user!

Rather than spending your time finding good software, why not look around the web and read up on SEO, identify the issues yourself etc etc and improve them?

I ahve had personalised software written to do the DONKEY WORK of SEO, but REAL SEO is headwork, it can't be automated as things like keyword density etc are bunkum.

I get grief sometimes form clients who have read a bit and say things like 'the titles could be better optimised' shouldn't we be using h1, h2, h3, h4 etc. Why are we getting nofollow back links?

The answer is this. GOOGLE LIKES NATURAL SEO. sincerity is everything to google, and once you master faking sincerity, you can get new sites ranking quickly for difficult terms.

ALL the 'DIY' SEO software (even the best), follows traditional age old SEO methodology, they will tell you to have KW density of between 2% & 6%, to have xx word in your H1, a title of xxx xxx xxx (based on what you have told it) on each PAGE

Did you see I highlighted the word 'page'? The reason for this is that none of them do a 1005 job (becaiuse in reality it can't be achieved accurately enough) of considering the interlinking relationship of the pages within your site.

What SEO software packages do is like getting 20 people together to design an animal, 1 draws an ey, another draws the second eye, the third draws a nose, the 4th the ears ALL in isolation! That is the kind of animal you get with these packages.

The human brain is the best SEO tool, but it needs to be trained to duck and dive and 'fake sincerity' of your actions. It is a fine balance between pushing forard and standing still, knowing when to forge forward building links optimising pages, and when to do bugger all ! believe it or not, doing nothing is an important part of the overall strategy, it keeps it real :)

I've used LinkNabber.com with a lot of success. It basically does all the grunt work, click a button and it goes through all the search engine results for any keywords you choose and finds all the emails, contact pages, Page rank info, inbound links, outbound links etc. and creates a report in HTML for you. Rather than trawling through hundreds of pages to find suitable links, it takes 2 seconds and they are all highly relevant.

Look software = automated. I don't believe there is any software out there that could give you "great results" .
Seo requires a keen eye and the ability to make judgements. Unless the software has artificial intelligence (better than any pc out there in existence) that can work out your industry and create content and build internal linking structure that isn't monotonous then ask the real question.

"Can some one help me with my SEO?"

Yeah well we know the best software is between your ears.

But for people who have not trained.SEO software is better than no SEO and for non competative terms,I imagine it may do OK.

Problem with most of the stuff I have looked at is that it just compares the top 10 sites and makes recommendations based on them.

Ok i agree on some seo is better than none.
But when running the software it will tell you what to do once.
But next time you run it it will tell you to do exactly the same things again
Once you have made the amendments then ho will you find out what to tweak and improve.

I think you need to refine your needs a little more. There is a lot of software out there and a lot of it overlaps. The eutopia you are currently looking for does not exist.

You read the worlds greatest SEO's posts and learn more.:p
But in the meantime you will hopefully achieved some sort of a ranking.:)

Its very easy for people who have SEO knowledge to knock these packages from there lofty position.

But If you know nothing about SEO then they help.

I agree. But if help is needed then I am suggesting the 'call for help' is a little more refined first - that is all.

Agreed in an ideal world .

But many start ups do not have the cash to invest in professional SEO and many business's do not warrant it either.

Many people are happy to have a site bringing them in a few quid a week as a little extra to there regular jobs.

I turn down many people for SEO because I realise it would not be cost effective for them or me.

So where do they go.?

missing point of "seo"

the level of seo depends on what is asked for.
1) getting to page one of Google (most wanted)
2) getting links in place (depends on industry)
2) getting high page rank (importance varies)
3) getting more visitors (very very important)
4) getting conversions(this is the end result of SEO)

Now if there is software out there that does that then buy it and set up an SEO company because it will make us redundant.
But I know no such thing exists just a cheap solution that does hardly anything but cost money all the same.
Someone makes money from this and i feel they are on par with those seo companies that charge small fees and do sweet F A

Thanks for all your replies. As most of you have gathered, I haven't even touched on SEO yet, so was just looking for a good place to start. A nice shiny piece of software to get me going would have been nice!

To start with I suppose I should look hard at Google Analytics and Adwords, use sites such as LinkNabber.com / LinkVendor.com, and get reading!

Do not touch these products with a bargepole at the end of a long scaffold pole whilst wearing protective clothing.

Read up all you can about SEO and you will soon realize that, as many have suggested, it's simply a matter of common sense. There are not great secrets and there certainly aren't any shortcuts.

Remember that the aim of your site is to make money, if you can make lots of money without worrying about your ranking then you don't need SEO. I have a client that makes about £5000 a month but only 10% of his visitors come from organic searches.

I had a client COMPLAIN that 40% of her traffic wasn't coming from the search engines but from other sites links :( I thought I had educated her as well!

That's classic! It's a bit like those who measure success by the number of visitors rather than how many sales they actually make.

WebCEO is an interesting piece of software which might help, but as some other people have pointed out...no software on its own will give you good (let alone great) results. If software could do it all for you...everyone would have done the same already! You will definately know someone who knows what he is talking about...and believe me...there are many "funny" cowboys out there..so be careful.

If you need any tips, I'll be glad to help if I can.
