Now it’s not PC to refer to someone’s actual gender, where will it end?

Is it time to end the obvious discrimination shown by the ‘Women’s Institute’

And just call it ‘The Institute’?

The Brits are now gender neutral. No longer best male and female artists, it’s just best artist.

So can I start a Men's Institute then?

Yes you can, under the 2010 Equality act if it is a charity is acting in pursuance of a charitable instrument and if the provision of benefits is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.

An example is UK Men's Sheds Association - AKA Men is Sheds, a charity with legitimate aims

Anything that makes for a shorter award ceremony gets my vote.

I actually think it makes sense for the Brits. Men and women doing the same thing can compete for the same award. That happens in lots of other fields.

Yes, there is a lot of crazy stuff going on, but this particular example is OK.

Please stop being sensible. This is clearly not the thread for that kind of behaviour.

Although I’m a passionate lover of many different musics, the Brits has little to no real appeal for me. 20 years ago yeah.

But what’s always fascinated me is bands. The chemistry that exists between them. What’s also interested me is the ratio of ‘bloke bands’ to ‘girl bands’

I’m not talking about groups of nasal ‘singers’, I mean proper bands - Singer, lead guitar, bass, drums, keyboards.
    Edgy music.

Only a handful of actual female bands. Loads of blokes. I don’t know why that is, because music is music and if you write a masterpiece then it’s all the same. Is it a ‘gang-y’ thing? Are women not as fussed as blokes about being in a band? I honestly have no idea!

So, I think it’s ok to differentiate & that you should be able to have as many different categories as you want, without the risk of upsetting a tiny minority of people. They don’t have to attend, it’s a choice after all!

They only sing when they're Ironing! However, we have had the Renaissance of Ballroom Dancing, and 1,001 absurd things to do with Pastry - Could this be an opportunity for a 'Strictly Ironing?' Or, 'The Great British Steam Iron?' - Female Bands and Ironing!

Maybe the other half (is that allowed) don't fancy being on the road for a few years earning peanuts until they become semi famous and make a little money. They prefer a nice clean bed and lots of room for their clothes and even popping down to the fridge in the middle of the night for a snack

How many bands / groups started virtually living in the back of a transit along with the gear
