hello y'all

some contacts of mine want a website building for a korean restaurant
in central london

apart from

-wanting a cool pretty one that is easy to update
-wanting one that is economic to buy and build

they want it to allow customers to order actually on the site
(as opposed to calling them, though you will of course be able to call)

pretty basic really

any one not so brain fried they can give any tips or pointers?

cheers folks

and many thanks in advance

You say 'order from, so are they looking to order and pay, or just order and pay on collection/delivery?

Wordpress is ok, but I am thinking that there are better options if they want more depth.

Wordpress with forms will allow that, but then again, so will Zen cart!

Joomla with a cart plugin such as iprice calc or virtuemart etc will also do the same. This would allow paypal payments as well.

using Joomla would allow a massive amount of room for expansion also.

HEY THERE MR owg
(glad you liked that thing i sent you!)

thanks for the infos
so you'd say i best get them to look at low cost designers who can develop wordpress or joomla?

(ps; yes they'd like to take payment on the site by cc's and paypal too.)

cheers

Joomla would be very easy to set up with a shopping cart. the categories would be their menu categories 9which if they use their heads they would provide as a printable pdf to make selection easier at home :) )

it would be a wlak in the aprk and very easy to handle.

I do agree with ^^^, joomla would be better for the site, (after the update for what they want)

If your talking about takeaways then presumably your going to have to be able to timebox when its available - dont want people ordering when the kitchen is closed.

If you have delivery you are going to have to be able to check that the postcode is within an acceptable distance and again deal with the time aspect.

Are they also wanting people to be able to make reservations online? If they are then things get a touch more complex.

All of these things are certainly doable - but imagine that you are potentially looking at a more specialist solution that a generic ecommerce plug in.

I wouldn't get hung up on a single system or brand. It is more important to get the right developers on board than insist on Joomla over DNN or one of the other 5000+ opensource CMSs

Naturally, being slightly biased, I would say that I do know of someone who can do it but realistically would need to have a better understanding of both the requirements/ functionality and target budget - if by economic you mean cheap, it isnt us, if you mean cost effective then we naturally are.

Feel free to send me a message if you want to discuss further if we are the right sort of company for you.
