That's almost like asking what colour jeans do you like and why.

According to Wikipedia, around 44% of people currently use Chrome, around 22% IE and around 18% Firefox - this means that around 44% of people are likely to tell you that Chrome is the best, 22% that the best browser is IE, etc.

Like Websitehandyman pointed out above, each browser has its pros and cons. At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference so everybody should try all three/four main browsers and stick to the one they like most.

Hipsters make good browsers as they spend ages in bookshops trying to look cool and trendy.

But if you are using the internet then command lines are best - none of that geeky UI stuff to mess about with:

Code:
$ curl [URL]http://google.com[/URL] -o google.com.html

I love Google Chrome (and the open source Chromium). I just like the clean design, the easy access to the inspect element function, and in my opinion is more lightweight than the others.

Other than that I have to use Firefox, Safari and IE.

I use Firefox, mainly because it already has gained its name for reliability. Chrome could be a good choice but I'm not really a fan of its user interface. And I believe security is better in FF than in IE, also compatibility in some pages are better.

Best,
Erik

SwIron - Lightweight, without all the SpyS£$%
Camino - Lightweight and fast

Leave him alone, all he wanted to do is get some personal preferences out of users here.
I personally prefer to use Torch browser. I'm not sure how many of you know it, but it's a chromium-based browser that I especially like because of it's built in features (it has a torrent client and a video grabber that I use quite a lot). It's really advanced and has high browsing speeds, plus it's very easy to use it.

Have all the main browsers but tend to prefer SW Iron and Opera.

From my experience

Iron - fast without the Google memory hogging junk
Opera 15- since they moved over to the blink rendering engine, very fast and no incompatibility issues anymore
Chrome - Great for syncing, simple and fast but at times is a memory hog, with all the Google spyware on it
IE- Junk
Firefox- Getting back to what it once was - nearly a great browser
Chrome Metro - Terrible
IE Metro - Very good but bookmark tiles can look a mess if you have many

you can also open private window in Mozilla Firefox for private surfing..

Be aware that private mode is not that private, same as incognito mode in Chrome. It doesn't save info so much as a normal window, but it still leaves tracks away from the browser and on web servers.

If you want privacy, there are ways to achieve this for the most part, a VPN would be ideal!

I switch between Chrome and Firefox, but now I have a Chromebook, I'm using Chrome more.
