Bartering instead of paying?

I have an idea that its in the very early stages so I haven't figured out all the details yet.

But it involves businesses advertising on my site but instead of asking for payment for the advertisement I would ask them to provide a discount code for my customers so they can enjoy other deals only exclusive to my site?

Like I say, very very early stages so I'm sorry I havent provided more detail.

I am wondering if businesses would be interested in bartering for advertising and what you you expect to get in return?

Thanks

All anyone wants is a return on investment from their advertising, so if you can guarantee relevant traffic, and people who will buy based on the advertising/discount/whatever your plan is, then at the right price, you might have a market for your product.

Sounds very similar to Affiliate Marketing; in effect, you send potential customers to a website, and in return they pay you a percentage of the income generated.

Plenty of deals and offers for this stuff already out there, some of which might offer discounts to your clients. If you've ever searched for a coupon code online, chances are it's advertised as part of an affiliate deal.

No money would change hands, I wouldn't ask for any money or cut. Just discounted services for my customers.

Depends on what is the target audience of your site, but I think relevant businesses might be interested in this offer. However you have to prepare a strong agreement, as the things are quite flowing with the bartering scheme.
