i just find it amazing that our government allows people to set up a tobacco business that has caused the death of of an estimated 100 million people
and it collects revenue from that death dealing business.
then they come up with the idea to put "smoking kills on cigarette packets" as if that will have any effect upon smokers.
the fact that people become addicted to nicotine once they practice the habit on a regular basis shows that the government inititive is useless because it tells people what they already know.
if the government really wanted to inspire people to give up smoking they would view the tobacco business in the same way they view the illegal drug business and deal with them the way they deal with drug pushers and the people behind it.
but the fact that they in my opinion "pussyfoot" around the important issue of smoking shows that they don't really care.
and it stands to reason because if they turned against the tobacco companies and closed them all down in order to spare future generations nedlessly dying from lung and throat cancer
they would lose stand to lose billions of pounds in revenue.
really then when they talk about "reform" should they not be making plans to reform the way the government operates?
can it be morally right for a government to give the green light to people to use tobacco to make money at the cost of encouraging people to smoke which in turn causes untold deaths from cancer?
how is it that men and women wake up mon-fri to go to work in a business that has caused so much deaths and yet governments come and go and they do absolutely nothing to stop them?
yet they use the police to the limit to fight the drug trade
which i think is the right thing to do but yet they give carte blance to the tobacco business to keep trading relentlessly.
as business men and women don't you think it is time we took the inititive and make a effort to beat nicotine addiction and then make a decision to quit smoking for good?
the government always go on about "doing the right thing" but are they doing it?
if homosexual priests causes the scales of true christianity to become imbalanced? then what then of the association of the tobacco giants and the governments of the world?
has time not shown that governments can be persuaded to turn a blind eye if the price is right?
does it also not show that governments of the past and of now have similar characteristics
in that all of them although they claim to have different ideas etc, they are really all the same.
not one of them have the courage to do what is truly right because in doing so they risk showing that they really lack the skills needed to build up a country and its people without resorting to things like collecting revenue from the sale of tobacco which has caused so many people to die.
i wish i could inspire every smoker in this country to call the bluff of the government and quit smoking for good and see how the government reacts?
i tell you it would bring it to its knees....and just like the £.02 tax on fuel brought out the wrath of the drivers against the government, likewise it would bring out the wrath of the tobacco business against them.
but really would their complaint be justified?
considering that they have contributed nothing of real benefit to human society except lung and throat cancer by means of their tobacco trade.
and wouldn't it show how governments have become like the harlot described in the bible?
prostituting itself with the big businesses of the world only to be turned upon by them?
in order to survive, do we really need to cause someone else to die?
are we animals that can only survive by hunting and destroying one another as prey?
would we do as we do to each other as we do to survive the same to our big cars and flash jewellry?
can we not see how hardened we have become?
100 million people have died from tobacco related diseases and yet to sell and use tobacco is legal!
we are a sick society....we have lowered ourselves to the level of animals who slaughter each other to survive.
the difference is animals are not accountable but we as humans that have the ability to discern the difference between right and wrong, are accountable but not to governments unless you sell tobacco to someone under age...isn't that pathetic?
the same people that say it is legal to smoke at 18, say it is wrong to sell cigarettes to those that are younger, but what difference does it make?
is not tobacco harmful whether we are young or old?
and the fact that our elected government tells us it is ok to smoke despite the fact that smoking has caused 100 million people to die, does that suggest they are fit to govern?
don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to start a rebellion from my bedroom, i'm just trying to highlight where our governments have made bad decisions that inspire us to become reckless only to end up dead from cancer.
is there not a real need for us to really take a good hard look at ourselves and see what good we have contributed to human society?
we also need to awaken our consciences and recognize that if you work within the tobacco business, you are not contributing any worthwhile except to the treasury.
what we need in shops is affordable good wholesome food and clothes that have not been sewed together by hardworking but poor indian or chinese people who exploited by rich countries to make clothes for a pittance then are shipped over here and priced really high.
these things must stop.
in the last 50 years of my life if i am fortunate enough to live that long i would like to see an end to the common practice of bad business and corruption within government(s) but i know that pigs would have
to fly first before that would happen, but it is possible to change, we need to recognize the harm we have done to people even just through the tobacco trade.
the government needs to accept that it has played a major part in the damage done to human society by aligning itself with big business in return for money but at the irreplacable cost of 100 million deaths caused by the practice of smoking.
the tobacco business could not exist as it is now if it were not for the permission given to it by the governments of old.
and the governments of now continue to keep it alive
thus ensuring the death rate will continue to rise.
and that cannot be right, justified or permitted to continue.
if the government could sucessfully encourage the ira to cease its bombing campaigns etc, in order to give peace a chance to grow and trust to be rebuilt, why then won't they do what is right and end the tobacco trade and stop taking money from its sale?
look how tony blair in his eagerness to go down in history as the man who saved the world from weapons of so called mass destruction, took britain to war against iraq, destroyed their country and their way of life, only to find that no weapons of mass destruction have ever been found.
yet the company whose dealings have caused 100 million deaths, continue unchallenged
yet he went all out against iraq, sparing no cost and now he goes around the world talking to people like he has all the answers.
and now we have gordon brown in his place trying to play "mr statesman" whilst we in britain are facing high costs to heat our homes.
now i know that is not the fault of the government, in fact this problem was inevitable and now it is here, the government can do little or nothing to stop it.
but they can do something about tobacco addiction and the deaths caused from it, we can do something too obviously by trying hard stop smoking.
but the government could make it easier by banning the sale of tobacco completely, removing them from all shops, pubs, supermarkets, vending machines etc, but they would not dare do it!
and why not?
because they would be signing their death warrant.
so you see the government have been corrupted by the love of money, they then permit the tobacco companies to corrupt the shopkeepers, then the advertising companies do their bit to entice us, we fall for the bait and before you know it tobacco has taken a hold on us.
businesses become accustomed to so called making a living by selling tobacco and it just continues like that.
and just like with the welfare state, people become accustomed to surviving of it and when the government sees that a problem has grown they try to tackle it but find people are reluctant to change.
likewise shopkeepers and the tobacco business are reluctant to change and if the government ever tried they would find they would be out of power in 2 years.
then the next government would come in and in order to ensure the revenue they are accustomed to raising through the sale of tobacco, you can be sure they would allow the business to continue, making the tobacco business happy and the shopkeepers happy and the government happy.
but will mr and mrs bloggs be happy dying in hospital from lung cancer?
can you see the mess we are in?
of course if the government banned the sale and use of tobacco, people would complain they will go out of business and since humans and governments are so reliant on money, you can be sure the government would not dare to rock the boat.
but this is nothing new, governments have always been looking for ways to enslave people to raise revenue for the chancellor.
a few hundred years ago it was the slave trade...another man made idea that exploited people for profit.
yet it was abolished but now the government is reliant on enslavement of people to tobacco.
so you see, nothing has changed.
all that right honourable gentleman stuff is all for show because their actions and ideas say something different.
