Hi All

I write articles for my own sites and place them on various article directories.

I also write articles for Search Sciences for which I am paid.

I lost my full time job yesterday so I thought I could write more articles for other companies like Search Sciences and get paid for them.

Can anyone recommend any other REPUTABLE companies that pay for articles to be written?

There are numerous ones showing on Google but I don't want to have to pay a joining fee.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Alan Hope

Firstly, can i say that i am sorry to hear you lost your job, not a nice feeling, i have been there as many other people have.

check out all the freelancer websites, most are free to join.

Its all down to how much you expect to get paid for say a unique keyword optimised 500 word article.

As the majority of articles you will be asked to create must be done with keyword density for search engines.

The top bracket of articles costs tend to be around £8 per 500 word article, but this is only paid when the person doing the articles is proven to be a very high level.

If your wanting to earn more than this per article, your best bet it to find a full time job with a company as a dedicated content writer.

Hi Daren

I already have 2 sites which I set up last October and in January for Affiliate Marketing and I have written a number of articles which I have placed on various article directories like Ezine and Go Articles with back links to my sites.

If you go onto Go Articles site and key in Alan Hope in the search field under Author you will see some of my articles.

It sounds like you feel 1 pence per word is not enough?

Regards

Alan

HI Alan

A good article writer can command some decent money, i pay more than £5 per article and so do a lot more people, as long as the quality is there.

Personally i would pay for someone to write my blog with 1 update per day 5 days a week, and people are wanting to charge me £350 per month for the that service , have you considered this as part of your service

BTW £350 was the cheapest, good writers are hard to find there are plenty of ok writers out there charging £5 for an article

I'm currently looking for article writes on eLance. I've just posted a job for 10 pet related articles and have over 40 proposals. Most are junk and it's frustrating trying to find one I would have any faith in.

I think there's definitely a market for running your own small content writing agency. I haven't got time to sift through proposals and offers. I've recently paid over £300 for articles to a company in the north of England and the quality has dropped article by article. I ended up spending 10-20 minutes correcting and improving each one.

There must be a huge amount of people in the UK looking for a regular, good quality, trustworthy, cost-effective content writer or agency that they can trust to get on with it.

Unless it's just me!

Good luck.

Good Afternoon Mystro

Thank you for your comments.

I believe that my articles are very well written but would appreciate any one's feedback.

Some of them can be viewed on GO ARTICLES - just key in Alan Hope on the top right having selected Author.

How many words are in each of your Blog posts?

I have just registered with Odesk as a freelance article writer and have quoted $6.50 (circa £4) per 500 word article/hour just to get some work!!!

Obviously if I were inundated with work I would quickly revise that figure upwards.

Alan

Tim,

Not sure if I've understood your question...but...

I want content written for websites that I run, but my time is better spent developing the sites, looking after advertising, working on SEO and so on. I don't enjoy writing content either!

The more content, so long as it's valuable and relevant, I can add to my websites, the bigger and better they become which sees more traffic and eventually income.

Other people might want content to market themselves (or a product or service) rather than develop a niche website. there's probably many different reasons for requiring content but hopefully my need is a good example to answer your question.

John.

Alan, you could offer your article writing services on a number of SEO/Internet Marketing forums out there. With English being your native language and from what you have written it looks like you are under selling your services by charging in the region of 1p per word (£5 for a 500 word article).

If you’re able to write magazine quality articles then there is no reason why you cannot command anything from 5p-25p per word for your work.

Also, rather than just limit yourself to writing articles, why not also look into writing press releases? They have a much higher perceived value.

Hi vincent80

Thank you for your suggestions.

I agree- I am beginning to think I am under selling my services from what people are saying.

Perhaps 2p per word initially to get established may be more appropriate.

For my blog, i would want at least 300 words to the maximum it took to write about a specific topic professionally

It may be worth setting yourself up as a blogger too as well as the articles

You could try odesk and become a freelancer
lots of people are looking this type of service and need content

Yes, definitely you should try oDesk. I am regularly article buyer from oDesk. I pay around £4 to £7 per article depending on the word count and niche.

There is anothe dedicated article writing service on oDesk. Sorry, I forgot the name, you should try that one as well.

    Wish you all the best.

Remember to tout your strengths, whether they be western european, native english speaker, college grad from some nice sounding school, etc.

You can sell on the freelancer sites like odesk, elance...

You can sell on the bargain basement sites like fiverr, gigbucks

Why not try the SEO sites like Digitalpoint, Wickedfire, warrior forum

Maybe even stray onto the black hat scene like BlackhatWorld

Make sure you post up a wordpress or blogger type blog with links to samples of your work there so people can see that you have done a good job.

Take a few loss leader jobs on odesk, perhaps advertising on others of the above, whereby you write for food a few hours to get some good reputation, then up it to a reasonable price.

We make use of a good team of writers from around the world, but unfortunately they charge 1/2 of what you do, so I can't extend an offer.

    Good luck though!

    Hi Alan,

Sorry to hear about your job.

I've heard good things about the ProBlogger.com job board, perhaps give it a look. Have you also though about textbroker.co.uk? Not sure how much they pay but again it might be worth 10 minutes of your time checking it out.

I have been keeping an eye on a blog recently by a guy called Tom Ewer @ www.leavingworkbehind.com - He does some freelance writing and has some good articles on it, well worth a look in my opinion.

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Good luck,

    Darren

    Hi Alan,

Having above said that I use a lot of international writers for day to day work, I must admit to having ponied up the extra cash for Textbroker on two occasions recently. One was where we needed a solid blog article for a company branded site, and the other was going on a channel partner publisher who has a huge readership in their sector. I must say the extra money was well spent.

If you can write for Textbroker, and make decent money at it, you'd be in a win-win relationship, since their quality control is head and shoulders above anything else I've seen or heard of in the article writing business.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your job. But don't worry you can turn this unfortunate event into an opportunity to become more financially independent. If you don't want to pay a registration fee, you can create an account with freelancing sites like Odesk. I know from reading previous comments that this has already been suggested. I work full-time from home now and I can attest that this sites are secure. Actually, a lot of clients are looking for full-time article writers. Check it out yourself. :)

    Hi Alan,

Have you seen the website 'freelancewritinggigs'. They are a good resource site for writers. I guess they post some jobs where you can get more pay than what you seek right now.

    Hi All

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to those who contributed to this thread. As a result I have registered with some of the article/blog writing sites you pointed me in the direction of and I have already had 3 enquiries from people interested in me writing articles/blog posts for them. In addition I have also had a couple of PMs from people on this forum who have expressed an interest in me writing articles/blogs for them.

    Once again -many thanks.

    Kind Regards

    Good Afternoon All

I thought I would provide an update as to how my new business, writing articles etc, is progressing after only 6 weeks.

I am registered with the following "agencies" and writing articles or re-writing content for a number of them:-

    Search Sciences

    Copify

    Textbroker

    The Content Authority

    Elance

    Scriptlance

    Odesk

    Freelancer

I also have 3 private clients for whom I am either writing articles, content for web sites, content for blog posts or press releases. Those 3 are all members of this forum.

Bearing in mind how I started out doing this (see start of thread) I am thrilled as I initially saw it as a part time venture to supplement my income when I eventually got another employed position. I have not got another job but the way the article writing is going, in due course, I can see it producing a very good income without the need to look for paid employment.

I just thought that if there was anybody else on this forum in the same situation as I was a few weeks ago having lost my job -there is hope out their ( forgive the pun) !

A big thank you once again to all those who contributed to this thread and to those 3 members who are now using my services.

    Kind Regards

    Alan Hope

I was wondering whether Search Sciences actually paid what they owed you. I have read elsewhere that they didn't pay and I've done a huge amount of work for them over the last two months and they're late on payment. I'm a little suspicious because they usually assign me work every week and this last week I've heard nothing from them (which is the week my payment is due.)

I have found London Brokers, Textbroker and Interact Media (otherwise known as Zerys) extremely trustworthy. I've yet to receive a late payment and have been doing work for them for 11 months now. Textbroker once sent a round robin to writers saying payment might be 3 days late due to bank holidays at one stage but that payment arrived on time. They use automated systems. O Desk has been a place where I could find higher paying jobs and I'm working my way up to doing only O desk contract work.
